    Holiday watch 2020

Things have changed in the world so only one very reliable watch for this trip a purchase from SC.

I had one before but was loath to wear it and sold in on after answering a WTB.

As is the way I then missed it,now I am determined to wear it.

The Lume on this one is outstanding.

No one else on holiday with a nice watch?

After yesterdayís warm sun,I needed a tough, waterproof watch down on the wet and windy beach today.

That's a great one and yes makes a perfect holiday companion. I took it to Marbella last year.

Good to see you're putting it through its paces.

I think this is my wear and not be too concerned holiday watch. Most of us are only too well aware of the thefts of high value watches.

    Love your CWC too.

Always a dilemma. Which watch to take on holiday. It kinda depends on where Iím going, If itís a fancy place I take one of my nicer pieces but if itís camping or centreparcs where it may get knocked about then itís my skx or promaster

I took this on holiday last year, to the North Antrim Coast, and plan to do the same again when I revisit in August. It is a great one Rolex solution IMHO, can be worn in the sea or with shirt and jacket to a restaurant.

Last year for our summer holiday in Majorca I took my Seiko PADI Turtle on a blue ISOfrane and my Offshore Professional Field Engineer on a brown leather strap.

In the autumn we spent 9 days in India and I just took one watch - my Breitling Navitimer World on blue leather.

Iíve just bought a Sharkey Tuna, which I think will also make a great holiday watch...

I guess the right holiday watch depends what sort of holiday, where it is and what youíre doing...

I only ever travel with this one. I never bother taking another watch. Itís been some strange and wonderful places and been on my wrist when I have done some fantastic (and stupid) things. So it has lots of great memories attached to it.
Is not the prettiest, smartest or the best piece of horology but itís never missed a beat and does everything I need a watch to do.

I live by the seaside, so I suppose I'm always on holiday ;)

I'm wearing this massive nonsense today...

    Holiday watch 2020

Yes, Iím by the sea....a few yards away, virtually every day. I think you need a watch capable of coping with all conditions (within reason!). Holiday or not. So, fairly water resistant and rugged. Not a lot to ask.

Many thanks, lots of diving watches of the period are quite "lumpy" and I've been looking for something with that vibe,

Requirements for the ideal holiday watch:

World doesn't end if it gets damaged or stolen
Rugged / can go in a bit of water
Dual time zone a bonus if going abroad
    Practical go-anywhere strap option
    Fun
Some kind of WIS interest level/cult status
Doesn't attract the wrong sort of attention (with consideration of your destination, if Monaco then Rolex might not cut it)
You actually look forward to wearing it, i.e. novelty must not wear off for at least 14 days
Disposable, as you need an excuse to buy something different next year

    Any more?

    Maybe two watches.

One for daytime and one for the evening.

Day and date complications... easy to forget what day it is on a longer break.

Quartz... for peace of mind that the time is right to avoid missed flights.

My partner has taken the grandkids to stay in a caravan by the sea in Pevensey Bay, where the Normans landed in 1066. They were due to fly to Madeira, but .......
She is wearing a little Citizen; since it survived a full cycle in the washing machine, itís been a favourite. Already been in the swimming pool and sea today. £100.

My go-to travel watch in the old world when business travel was a thing: the Skywalker X-33 - multiple time zones, easy to operate and set, an alarm that'll wake the terminally jetlagged, let alone the dead, and smart enough to go with a suit. A great one-watch solution.

For holidays specifically, especially those involving being out and about, swimming etc, it's either my Seiko MM200 or a full metal G-shock. Usually both, because I like variety. As said above, they're robust, not too painful to lose, and not to painful to bash about.

A great choice! I nearly always take mine with me as well. Yours looks like one of the 2013 batches with the ĎTí dial, super luminova and a matte case. If so, I believe theyíre quite rare.

You are in luck..... rather than paying £5000 for a brand new AD one , which no doubt would have a waiting list of at least a year I have one for sale. Worn only once . Yours for £2500 and I will throw in the little Rolex cap also pictured. All papers and box included.
    Lucky you Skyman :)

BTW, that watch does look cool on that strap.

Last minute ride out to the seaside for one night only.

It would be an unusual holiday if I couldn't find a use for this - day-date to keep track of the days, chronograph to time sporting activities - yacht races or ski runs - and great lume for when you wake in the night feeling a bit jet-lagged and wonder what the time is.Plus, though it's quite chunky it's titanium and therefore pretty light and comfortable.

Last 6 weeks in Portugal back earlier this year I wore my VC. With the three interchangeable strap / bracelet combination and 120m wrt made the ideal one to take. And to the great unwashed it doesn’t attract attention especially if swapped out on the rubber.

Thatís a stunner, Iím seriously considering an Overseas for my next watch, desperate to get to an AD to try one on to see how it wears.
