    Sinn U50

You are thinking - what's different with the U50? Well it's 41mm and for people with smaller wrists like me that makes all the difference. I've always liked the looks of these and this makes it ideal.

Very detailed breakdown of the different versions and competitors.

My only problem with the U50 is that everyone seems to have forgotten that Sinn did this before with the U200.

Though that was 37mm and quite a bit thicker?

Indeed. 37mm is too small for a dive watch such as this imo but the dimensions of the U50 are perfect for the average wrist. I have 7.25 inch wrists and I've always loved the U1 but at 44mm it would be far too big for my tastes. The U50 is perfect. Nice and slim too.

Indeed, I merely meant they made a smaller diameter U series dive watch before.
The U200 was even more WR than the U1 (2000m) and didn't use the slimmer movement, so it was thick.
But it is perfectly legible, not too small in that respect.

I do not think it was a success, perhaps for being too small, perhaps for being too expensive, and perhaps for being released when people still thought big was good.

Exactly the same for me. It's my favorite modern dive watch:

Yep - it's why I want one - it's not yet another homage to a past that had come and gone before I was born!

Seconded, it really does look good. That's the combo I'd have.

You put the U200 on my radar a year or two back when someone was looking for a smaller diver, but they're not very easy to find. Can't have sold in great numbers as you say.

There is one for sale (SD version, black bezel) on Chrono24, from a UK seller and in nice condition. I have discussed it with him, he seems trustworthy (although not active on watch forums) and able to discuss a reduced price.
I was very tempted myself, but decided the additional 1800m of WR may not be useful for me.
I just like the hands better, and the date at 6 for symmetry.

I have huge wrists but I think so long as it fit me I would prefer the U50 over the U1. The dial on the U1 can look a bit bare due to its size whereas the dial on the U50 looks perfectly proportioned. If only Sinn didn't have their name all over the silicone strap like Breitling!

Yep I just saw that one too. Prefer the steel bezel myself though. If you do end up picking one up I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Yep, posts like this remind you of your interest then you find you can't buy one anyway. It's the Rolex method of getting you to want something you can't have ;-)

    Sinn U50

There was also the T2, a titanium and 40mm version of the T1. 2000m WR. Bonkers!

Again, seem rare now (never seen one for sale) and we’re expensive in the day for Sinn - but great size.
I picked one up on a whim from here recently, having never even heard of them.

Like the new U50 a lot. The handset is very square, but proportions and colours - looks bang on

Here’s the T2.. wears same as the SubC in almost all aspects, although less cluttered dial

These bracelets are really growing on me - they used to seem clunky, but it really suits the current Sinn range

Very nice! Beautiful piece and finally a good sized diver in the U-series.

Can anyone confirm if the numbers and markers on the bezel are engraved? On some pictures they look like they are but no review I've read or seen on the U50 so far mentions these details.

They are engraved on my older T2. Would expect the same...

Thanks. I'd say it's a near certainty that they are engraved on the U50 too then. I wish more reviews included such details. No mention of any practical experiences of timekeeping either from what I've seen although this is more understandable if reviewers only have access to a watch for a short time.

Each individual movement will react slightly differently anyway, and alot depends on the wearer's activity so not something that can really be assessed I would have thought.

Give one to me and I'll assess it, no problem! I've become something of a timing geek but even so, it's pretty easy to make a note of how long the watch was on wrist, broadly how active the wearer was then how long it spent off wrist and in what position. I realise it's a bit of a rabbit hole when you start talking state of wind and amplitude (I barely understand the later) but that would at least give a little bit of an insight into timekeeping. I always ask how timekeeping is for any watch I am serious about on SC and so far everyone has been able to reply with a meaningful answer so I don't think any of these things are too much to ask, certainly not from someone who makes a living or draws an income from reviewing watches.

I received mine 2 days ago. I bought the fully tegimented watch on a bracelet. As the tegimented bracelets are not ready yet, I chose to have the watch only sent to me with the bracelet to follow when available. I fitted a BC 285 rubber strap which I quite like on the watch. I love the titanium-esque colour of the tegimented steel, it gives the watch a look that separates it from my other watches. I had heard that the U1 had a sloppy bezel action and was fully expecting this on the U50. Mine's nice and tight and snappy. When turning it it does overshoot, then it back rotates slightly and then sits in place without any play - I have zero complaints. My watch gained 5 seconds in the first 24 hours while worn on the wrist all the time. I'm 23 hours into day 2 at the moment, it spent 6 hours lying crown up in my locker while I was in work, the rest of the time was on my wrist and so far it's gained 3 seconds. Have to say I really love this watch.

    (16.5cm/6.5" wrist for reference)

Looks good Narc'd, thanks for the write up and the timekeeping info. Interesting that yours is gaining. I have an IWC which I think has the same movement as the U50 and it always loses time.

Noticed some fresh U50 porn on YouTube recently:

Seems like the tegimented bracelet versions are starting to come through now. Have any TZers got theirs yet?

I'm about 6 weeks away from delivery of mine - fully tegimented on (tegimented) bracelet. That said, I have a couple of nice black & red nato straps and will almost certainly wear it on those.

I've had an ongoing love affair with the U1 despite knowing that it's too big for my wrist. I really can't wait for this one to land.

Cheers Tony. I can't wait to see yours and the other U50 incomings although I know this is going to lead to me making a purchase but do I go black bezel or silver??? Both look great but I'm edging towards the silver. Do let us know when it lands!! :-)
