I am a complete novice but that does not look right to me.
I had a friend send me these pics today as he knows I’m into watches..I’ve never owned an AP so may be wrong, but this doesn’t look genuine to me...Any thoughts?

Definately counterfeit, here it is with the same case numbers for $500.

That engraving on the back is awful. I could do better with my dremel
Should not have those sharp/exposed edges IIRC.
I thought so...
Fake, and I am no AP expert!
The date appears to be stuck between 31/1.

Looks like there was nearly a change of mind when engraving the Oa on the case back.
My eyes bled.
Definitely a fake all the screw heads on the front line up

Not an expert but those pictures made me sad, so probably fake.
Crown looks like a mainspring hemorrhoid, the links look off and the numbers on the dial look anorexic and brittle.
The engraving looks like it was done by an uninspired on-the-job trainee..
That's possibly the worst fake Offshore I've ever seen. It worries me that someone with access to this forum would need to ask!
The dial logo and lug backs are particularly poor, and don't look even remotely genuine. And the crown......
I mean, does it LOOK like a £16,000 watch?!

Could be a prototype.
