Auto movements - Rotation of watches

Is it better to let auto watches stop or keep them going. Example rotate watches often on the wrist and winder to keep them all ticking or let them stop and set time/date etc when ready to wear ?

I let mine stop. Surely keeping them going increases wear?

Ditch the winder, they do more harm than good. Stupid idea.

In my opinion there’s absolutely no benefit in running a watch frequently just for the sake of it.

As for winders, they maximise wear on the auto- winding parts and increase the wear rate on the barrel unless they’re adjusted very carefully.

Vintage watches should definitely not be subjected to a watch winder, that really is a daft idea. Parts will probably be obsolete and its always the auto-winding parts that are worn.

As Paul said above - and without a doubt - let it stop.

One of the benefits of wearing several watches in rotation is that wear is reduced when the watches are not in use. It would be a shame to subject a movement to unnecessary wear by placing a watch on a winder.

The only justification I can think of for a winder is use with complicated watches, in this case you might want to do without complex calendar adjustments if you stop wearing the watch for a few days.
