    Seiko marine master mm300 bracelet

    Hello,

Noticed on sales corner that a marine master bracelet had a ratchet on it.
My serial number 2500xx does not and I am a bit dissapointed that i was not
    aware that one was available.

Can a more learned member inform me at what point they were introduced
in the production of the bracelet?

    thanks for your time

    Martin

Which one do you have? Sbdx001? I have one and ratchet is standard I think.

Are you first owner? Clasp can be replaced during ownership.

I have a very early production sbdx001 and it has the Titanium ratchet clasp, as far as I know these have been standard since launch.

They are easily removed and it sounds as if yours was replaced for some reason.

I thought they all had adjustable titanium clasp since release.
Is your clasp a Seiko clasp?

The only good thing about the MM300 bracelet is the ratchet clasp 😈. Unsure if you have had yours from new, but not unheard of for previous owners to sell them on. You can get them on that well known auction site for around £70 if you want to return yours to its original state. 👍

Just for awareness if you do purchase one the mm300 clasp is Ti and steel, the versions available now have the diashield coating that was used from the sbdx017 onwards. If you have an sbdx001 it will have a slightly different finish. Made the mistake of selling my sbdx001 earlier this year. 😢

Don't worry, you will soon want to swap it for a razor wire from Uncle Seiko in any case.

As per previous responses, the ratcheting clap was standard on the SBDX001 - some people didn't like it and swapped it out for an alternative Seiko clasp, that's probably what's happened here. It was maybe a little crude but I liked it. Ratcheting clasp on a crafter blue strap is the perfect combo for the MM300 in my opinion.

100% agree, couldent wear my 001 on its bracelet but this combo for me was perfection, I now use the same combo on my 6159-7000.

I prefer a ‘normal’ one. I find the ratchet digs into the wrist.

Always came with a ratchet clasp. I had a mm300 once, hated the clasp. Too long for my small wrist. I didn't swap it out but considered it, many do. For me a rubber strap was much more comfortable. Personally I don't think you're missing much aside from maximum resale value. They are available now and then so you should be able to get one relatively easily.

How embarrasing i am such a muppet.
I got the mm300 second hand and as has been mentioned the original owner had swapped out the
clasp for a more standard seiko clasp.

Life must of got in the way when i bought it and not spent much time with the watch until now.
In the intervening time i have managed to forget that the clasp was included in the sale and was in the bottom
    of the box!

Thanks for you help people , i will now sit in the corner and shake my head for a bit.
