    Ring Insurance

Hi guys, I was hoping for some recommendations.

My wife engagement ring has just had a valuation for insurance and it 3 times the value we have previously had it covered for.

We had a second valuation and both have come in they same. The problem now is the insurance is coming in at over £800 a year.

TH Marsh too high, are there any other reputable companies you have used that don't charge a fortune?

    Many thanks

    Rich

Get it added as a named item, with outside cover, on house contents insurance.

    That’s what I do.

Am I the only one that thought this was about insurance for driving/riding the Nordschleife. My apologies.

    Rich,
Depending on the actual £ value, Marks & Spencers do a superb contents insurance with individual items upto £10k without being itemised.
I choose them as constantly naming my watches as I bought, sold and flipped became very tedious.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.

General content insurance will not go high enough for the named item value in question. The valuation we got is £60k, that is the sticking point. BTW I did not pay anything near that

Never understood why jewellery valuations are always so much higher than price paid.

Would you really get £60k, can't you insure it for less?

For something that sort of value you'll probably need the type of poilcy that caters to the HNW market, in which case you certainly can insure items of that level on home insurance.

A good broker who deals in this area should be able to assist. Whether it would be more convenient/better value than a seperate policy I don't know.

As an example someone like Chubb would usually be able to cover items like this. Several others also.
