“Rolex Daytona Panda 116500LN white IGNORE STATING PRICE,explained In Desc”

    Description:

    Rolex Daytona Panda 116500LN white.

IGNORE THE STARTING PRICE, ebay won’t allow a higher starting price as I haven’t listed anything this expensive before.

A present a couple of years ago which I was going to keep for an investment but due to a break up I’d rather let the watch go now and have the money.

It comes with everything I received with it which I’ve shown in the picture.

I’ve only worn a couple of times in the house and one special occasion.

I’m not sure what the retail price was as it was a present but I understand due to it not being brand new as much I’m not going to get full retail price back.

Get in touch with any questions I’ll try get back to you as soon as I can, Bare in mind though I’m no watch expert but I’m happy to answer any queries.

    Free postage

    Thank you”

Quite cunning really. The below statements are clearly deliberate attempts to appear unaware of the true value of the watch, set the expectation he'd accept under retail and encourage direct contact.

    What a conniving scumbag!

Isn’t eBay new watch authentication service supposed to put a stop to this sort of thing apart of course from the ones that are real but are hotter than a Hollywood pornstar

I assume the fraudster finds some reason not to go through the authentication check. He needs the money quickly and will knock a few £ off the price, etc.. Only takes one fool to bite and it’s easy money.

That authenticity programme only applies to watches sold through eBay for over £2,000.

Presumably this chap will be either taking an offer sub-£2,000, or finding a way to move the sale off of the eBay platform. Of course both things would put off the vast majority of half-way sensible buyers, but he only has to find one.

Cant see how he will get under the 2k limit as the bidding is already 11k but as you say he only needs one idiot that thinks he is getting the bargain of the century

    Up to 18K now.

I'd love to see how he tries to move the payment off eBay when the time comes!

Good point, I was looking at the price on the awful fake in the pic above and got them mixed up. He'll be looking to move the sale off eBay then, and guess he's found himself a whole bunch of potentially gullible eBay members to message now from the bidding history.

Can you see underbidders nowadays? Last time I sold something iirc you could only see the identity of the winning bidder.

I thought you could, but couldn't swear to it. Evidently I'd be a rubbish scammer...

Different type of plonker but plonker nonetheless!

    £4,800 watch for … £29,000.

Particularly doesn't fill me with confidence when they have a company name on the listing and a company name for their eBay account, both limited companies, but not the same limited company!

Superficially, the companies appear not to be connected although both giving a location in Stevenage. Nothing to particularly inspire confidence.

The VAT registration number is for the company not being struck off, so that’s something.

Just when you thought the Tiffany blue Rolex OP nonsense couldn’t get any worse!

This is the second “someone’s given the dial a paint” offering I’ve spotted on eBay.

At least their honest about it. Someone would have to be mad to pay the price though, far as I'm concerned all they did was devalue the watch with that paint job!

December 2020 "grape" 39mm OP. So far so good. (Or not, at £10,000!)

But then "It has recently had a complete service with Rolex before selling as I wanted to ensure there was no problems with the watch before selling to someone else."

I mean, what on earth?! Either the watch had been very badly treated in the c 12 months since it was sold or ???

Rolex service department must have had a laugh at that one.

Why's that? Yes the listing has red flags all over it, although at least the seller is correct in that ebay will put a ceiling on his starting price with his lack of history (which is a red flag in itself of course). I don't know enough about the watch to know if it is fake or not from the photos but it has to go to the authenticators first. I wouldn't risk it but to someone it's worth a gamble.

Didn’t know there was a restriction on starting price for new buyers. What was it though, first bid I can see is £24,500 which is odd?

If you scroll down and click show more the starting price is revealed at £600.

You'd have thought someone with a 116500LN kicking around might have googled "how to sell my extremely desirable Rolex" before chucking it on eBay.

Indeed, the listing raises many red flags as I mentioned. If I was in the market for a watch like that its definitely not the route I would take to ownership. I was just curious as to why the buyer would be losing 25k when the authenticity process is in place?

And another “ Tiffany “ Oyster Perpetual - not! £14,500!

“Custom Tiffany Dial with original Silver / Gold baton dial”. £4,700 for the watch and £5 for a pot of blue paint.

I suggested to eBay that there was just the hint of a chance that this might be a fake and someone trying to pull a £700 con but they’re apparently OK with it.

Probably just needs a new battery and it will be fine.

(I've also reported it, for what it's worth, although I've pretty well given up on reporting fakes to eBay or Gumtree, given how seldom they take any action).

😁 Yes, I reported and they now send replies. They couldn’t see any breach of their terms. As long as you don’t write FAKE in the description, you’re good to go, it seems.

Just had a response from eBay - "We looked into your report and didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy. This determination was made by a customer service agent."

I wonder how many of us would need to report it before this listing got taken down? (And even so, there would be another thousand to take its place by tomorrow).

    Good! Well done TZ!

I’d reported a couple of others which they’d declined to remove but subsequently disappeared so I think you’re right.

I reported it too. Seemed a pretty obvious scam given the price.
