    Swiss Made

Interesting take on Swiss Made. I quite like his videos and he seems a bit of a character.

You cant take any "made in" or any such label seriously anyway.

I used to work for a company who sold to john lewis, mothercare and places like that.

All the products had a made in UK type label on them.

Every piece of it was made and tested in China, shipped over in a container and I used to assemble and finish them a little and legally put that stamp on them.

Its a joke seriously, there are all kinds of grey areas

Isn’t this the reason Moser (100% made in Switzerland btw) don’t have “Swiss Made” on their watches?

Swiss made is not what it used to be. Pure marketing BS

The UK average salary is £29k the Swiss average is approx. £95k.

All these people who manufacture 'Swiss made' get paid their going rate.

The quality of Swiss made is brilliant, but expensive. My watch crowns for example were about £40 each plus tooling fees. Order 500 of these and you aren't getting much change from £25k. Of course a numbers game and the more you make, the less per unit you pay - but still it isn't cheap, but then again the people making it are paid a lot, so I would expect this.

So of course, you see people selling "Swiss made" watches under £500 that are Incl. Vat and have a warranty provision. That's excluding anything else you might spend on packaging etc.

For the customer, Swiss made says "Quality" - but "Expensive" - so hence why the uprising of brands saying "Swiss made" but "Not expensive" (customer says "wow") - however, the Swiss average salary still needs to be paid, so either the Swiss are making a loss, or undercutting their staff, or companies aren't being 100% honest about where the parts come from.

An alternative of course is to use a Swiss company to import and export from elsewhere, so the actual manufacturing is cheaper and you are paying them to process the parts rather than manufacture, but for most consumers, they know no different.

So, most companies that are genuine "Swiss made" generally don't talk about it, but let the quality of their manufacture do the talking. It's those who play heavily on the "Swiss Made" label that are the ones who could be perhaps not being entirely honest about where they are manufacturing ( or they aren't told ).

Swiss made = made in China and given a quick wipe over with a cloth in Switzerland. Believing anything else is pure delusion.
