    The TZ Mountain Bike Trails/Routes.

There seems to be quite an interest here in MTB so I thought it would be great to see the different trails around the UK/Europe that we ride, hopefully it will inspire and uncover local routes we didnt know we had..

I'm quite new to it and enjoying it with my Son, we hit the Yer Tiz blue route a couple of times in Leigh Woods Bristol, really good fun and I have the bug now, hopefully going over to the Brecon's and down to the Quantocks soon (once my fitness increases!)

    Share those trails all..

Not my video but the Yer Tiz route.

    Have you looked at these?

Look for known trails in your area.

This link pulls strava data so again you enter the location you’re looking for and dig around for tracks you’re unaware of

Haldon forest by dunchideock has some great marked an unmarked trails. A few google searches will help you find the unmarked ones.

A good app/site for discovering new trails in your area.

    Cheers,

I've just discovered Komoot and upload the routes onto my Wahoo. Breadcrumb navigation can be a bit confusing but really good.

My first link should have been to the trail forks site.

Not a huge amount of techy trails were I am, so we tend to travel a bit..

We go to the Forest of Dean a lot, though not usually the actually trail centre, as there are loads of excellent off piste/non waymarked trails to be found.
Did the Dowies/Shutcastle ones on Sunday morning...which were running great, haven't had so much fun for months..

Closest to me is Westridge Woods near Dursley/North Nibley we go in the late afternoon quite often as its only 15mins away...short trails, but some pretty steep runs, and some mad jumps built by the locals....

Just built up my new bike, as whilst my July trip to the Alps was cancelled, I am hoping to go in mid August instead.

Pictured, against the small trail and jump I built in the garden...

You're not too far from me then, within an hour drive we have some good areas, Brecons, Quantocks, Mendips and Forest of Dean like you said, its the non marked trails that are interesting and really what I was thinking when starting this thread.

The new bike looks incredible, I have an older hardtail but thinking the 1x gearing looks a good way to go as does tubeless tyres, dropper post and wider bars/shorter stem, modern components do look like its taken MTB'ing in a different direction where one bike can really do it all.

In that case, try and find someone who knows the local stuff at the Forest ( I would be happy to meet you ) lots of it can be pretty gnarly though.

Had been going to Cwm Carn a lot before lockdown...the Cadfael trail is pretty good, as is the old Pedal Hound DSH trail and there is some great off piste stuff there as well.....Johnduro is pretty hairy...especially when its been raining.

I will never be good enough for modern bikes, but its nice to have one that flatters my clumsy riding style.

Good to see Leigh Woods. I lived in Redland, Bristol when I bought my first MTB (a '94 Kona Lavadome in autumn '93) so Leigh Woods and Ashton Court were where I did my first rides. For a day out, we'd go over to the Forest of Dean.

Now I live in Macclesfield on the edge of the Peak District so have some excellent riding from the door. If I get in the car I have all the 'honeypots' of the Dark Peak (Edale/Hayfield/Hope/Stanage) close by with the Lakes or North Wales a bit further.

I don't tend to film or photograph routes but if anyone wants to know anything about riding in the Dark Peak ask away.

An adaptation of one of my normal routes to take in the “Gurkha Bridge” that I never knew existed until the other day

I did the Forest of Dean, some great riding there swerving through the trees.
From there did the Brecon Beacons which was quite challenging.
