Which socks? Yet another pointless thread.

From the look of several recent threads it appears that people can’t even scratch their bums without getting forum advice. I am feeling left out and so, in the spirit of uselessness, I would like The Forum Collective to advise me on the tricky subject of socks. Do I wear plain socks or patterned socks? Is it going to be warm enough today that I dont need socks? I am at a loss.
    Please help.

It does make you wonder how some of them ever got a good job when they cant seem to research even the simplest of things.

One guy said he couldn't find anywhere locally to do photography.

The whole area around him was classed as an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Bright patterned or comedy socks are really useful to help mark out the people you need to avoid at work.

I like to know who makes my socks, where possible so it’s Corgi or Pantherella for me

    Cheers,

I thought most men over the age of 25 got their yearly quota of socks from Father Christmas? I know I do, I don’t have a choice on where they come from.

    It’s the same for boxers...

    I buy about 20 pairs a month.
They go in the washing basket, never to be seen again.
I can only assume that the back of my washing opens up into some kind of Narnia-esque magical kingdom where the locals worship the sacred God of Donnay tennis.

Socklessness is next to Godlessness, and is the certain sign of a bounder - especially when loafers or deck shoes are involved. Ugh.

HJ Hall is the sock of the unpretentious gentlefellow - from Indestructible to Shooting; Summer Hike to Elastic-free. They are really rather decent. And made in the UK.

HJ Hall are to Pantherella what Tudor are to Rolex.

Halls are part of the Pantherella group if you did not get the analogy.

I'll have you know I resemble that remark.

Left sock first or right? Such discussion shouldn't be taken lightly.

Bamboo socks. I had a pair of them. Very good, but on the parque or lino it was like ice skating - genuinely hard to walk about

Roy’s Boys make some decent socks. Good patterns. Leicester-based, me thinks.

Right of course, but left leg first when putting on boxers.

Was thinking the other day, I always spray left underarm first. Probably because right-handed...

I've treated myself to some falke sea island cotton and piuma cotton socks. They are very hard wearing but too expensive for me have enough to use daily.

I switched over to Darn Tough socks because I was looking for a sock that would keep my feet dry and more comfortable wearing boots and walking on concrete all day and after buying a pair my feet felt like I loved them again. I bought pairs for my son's and a good friend of mine as well and they have all switched over to Darn Tough socks only.

They are pricey socks and worth every penny they last for years and have a warranty on them as well.

Yes you can find them in the UK

I'd agree that for sheer comfort bamboo fiber socks are the best that have ever graced my swollen leg ends. They don't last though I had gaping holes in mine after about 8 months.
As I have clown feet (size 12, fat) it's tough to just nip out and buy new socks so I tend to buy in bulk so tend to order online which makes it a bit of a crap shoot as to whether they'll be any good.

8 months is a bloody good innings for modern socks ime
It's just a matter of time...
