    RIP Ennio Morricone

According to Dutch newspapers, Ennio Morricone passed away at the age of 91. A few days back, he fell in his house, broke a hip and was hospitalised, where he passed away last night.

I could have selected hours of film in which his music played a significante role. For me, this 52 y/o soundtrack is the best:

A movie music icon. Love all his compositions and most probably first musical influence indirectly, due to my love of spaghetti westerns from a very early age.

    RIP Ennio

A good innings and a fantastic legacy; his was the soundtrack to much of my childhood and beyond.

    RIP.

That's the greatest single cue in the history of movie soundtracks, IMO.

    RIP maestro.

Just seen this. My favourite was his soundtrack to The Untouchables. It pretty much made that film.

I've got fond memories of that main theme. I remember it growing up as it was used as an interlude theme between films in the late-80s on a satellite movie channel called Premiere (well before Sky was around).

    Just to add a note
Ennio Morricone was magnificent and made his name through those Westerns. But he was so much more!

    The Mission:

Once Upon a Time in America:

    Cinema Paradisio

    To name just those 3.

Agree...he's one of the cases where I see the news headline and think the world has lost a true genius.

Also he did the music for lesser known gangster film, State of Grace. Amazing career.

Quite the composer was reading about the many movies he wrote music for and I was really blown away to learn that some of the most notable ones I can remember were by him. RIP we are losing more and more notable artistic and creative figures they we are not replacing.
