    Any GSERuk forum folk here?

    Hiya,
I’m on the GSER UK forum and I’ve noticed a couple of members over here too. Any others?
Might be helpful to know who you are if we ever need feedback/reference on each other.
    Cheers,
    Chris.
BTW I’m “Another name when venturing over to GSER land.

Still a member, but sold the 1150 after doing the north coast 500 last year. It went back to Germany in a van, buyer reckoned still cheaper than buying a used one over there!

    Any GSERuk forum folk here?

Got rid of my GS ADV in 2017 but still own a TL1000r and a VFR1200.
Just sold my 114060 over there. Smooth sale, he came and collected it today. Great that the forums cross contaminate each other.

I have no idea what that forum is all about (motorised bicycles, I'm guessing?) but I do hope that you all use different usernames and passwords over there! :-)

I'm on it but don't post much. Currently got a GS1200 but after a test ride I'm very tempted by the new Africa Twin.

Hang on! I've not been on there in years but I think, if my memory is working, I know "who" you are from it. Do you repair bikes?

Nope, nobody has ever payed for my repairing skills! Steptoe on the forum was the man for that.

That was him - I was confusing my Steptoes and Stilgoes. He's in London not Bristol too, I now recall.

Not him, anoither GS'er called Vern. I had a pair of them and they were indeed fabulous, Vern is a top-notch fabricator and the panniers are neigh-on indestructible.

    Mine:

I was a menber there from 2000 but slowly drifted away after I sold my GS1150 in 2012, then rejoined when I got another 1150(R), left after that one got sold and finally went back a 3rd time when I got another GS (1100) - which has now gone so again no longer active on there.

Attended many of the Club get-togethers and made some great friends, several of whom I still meet up with regularly for socials and riding.

In fact, it was GSer and TZ-UK member MMC who introduced me to here!

Vern is still making “World Beater” panniers, apparently a very skilled welder and fabricator. He makes some stunning small top boxes , the look like a large sandwich box. Whenever they come up for sale second hand, they just get snapped up.

Various bikes and trips with forum members. Next trip Iceland with my KTM790R with 12 other hardy adventure riders.

It is indeed a small world. Steptoe is the one who directed me to this forum. Anything gs related or bmw in general he is the man to fix it or service items if still doing pads etc.

Steptoe and I did the distinguished gentlemen’s ride last year. Raised a fair amount for men’s health charity.

Need to find a way to do the same this year, not sure if / how it will work this year.

Because I didn’t ask Steptoe’s permission to publish his face. If you’d like the uncensored version It’s public domain, this was from the press photos.

    Jeez.

    Well known to some on here, and published before (by him and others), and if you are reposting press photos, might I suggest it has been through the media machine and you are just making this look a bit silly;

    Lighten up Joe.

I like the idea of the gentleman's ride but I've never understood the desire to go out for a group ride and deliberately not wear the right kit. Well, not wearing any protective kit apart from the helmet really.

It’s a very indulgent experience and the organisers put together great routes. The right kit is very subjective on these splendid occasions. It pretty low speed speed and the traffic often stops to let the spectacle pass.

Ones mans "right kit" is another mans jeans and T shirt. Live and let live.
