    Laurent dodaine ?

    Hi All,

I have just been offered a Laurent dodaine in part ex for an Oris XXL Chrono. On using google, not a lot of relevant info actually comes up. I found Dodane and assume the guy has misspelt it in his offer to me. He didn't mention any model number. Has any one come across this watchmaker previously?

Am not considering it the part ex, was just curious about the name.

    Thanks in advance.

I think it is, as you say, a misspelling, as Laurent Dodane was a French watchmaker from Besançon who made and sold watches under the Dodane name, including some Type XX to the French Air Force or the French Navy, I don't remember which, alongside the likes of Auricoste and Blancpain as well as Squale-cased divers watches. The company also sold or sells some truly horrible, market-stall 'fashion' watches with the name Laurent Dodane on the dial.

    Laurent dodaine ?

If it’s a type XX, bite his arm off.
And Simon, I believe it was all 3, AA, AT and MN. Another brand for type XX is Airain.

This is a pretty interesting photo, when the watches came back from a service they had a lead seal.

Thanks Simon. When I looked at some of the Dodane ones, the market stall ones were the first that popped up with ebay links at £50 or so. That was why I immediately discounted it.

Will have a look a little further into it.

    Cheers,

For the benefit of the tape.........It was a market special, gold electroplated quartz. I was dreaming on the XX ;-)
