    The other Bond watches

For Your Eyes Only is on the telly now. There's loads out there describing the watches Bond wore, but what about the villains and other characters?

Interesting topic. This site might be of interest:

    https://www.timepiecechronicle.com/f...ale-to-spectre

Mostly about 007's watches, but it does refer to Scaramanga's Cellini in The Man With The Golden Gun.

I was very interested to see that Roger Moore wears one of these in A View To A Kill:

That's interesting. So many Seiko in a View to a Kill.

Just checked IMDB. Predator came out in '87; should that watch be the Moore instead of the Arnie?

The move to an auto Seamaster in' 97 - is that a rough barometer as to when quartz began to give way back to mechanical as a trend?

I remember the ticker tape giving Bond a message coming out of a Seiko in The Spy Who Loved me. Interesting thought about the auto renaissance being indicated by Bond's watches.

Yeah, I think Brosnan wears a quartz Omega as late as Goldeneye (1995).

Golden tuna worn by Roger Moore in the diving scene.
The watch is mine but the image is stolen from the Seller. Thanks to Adam.

I suppose it had to have a battery to power the laser.

This is insightful as to all the Bond watches: https://youtu.be/e1141hRSjas

I will admit my Seamaster purchase was inspired by the Brosnan era although I went for a black chrono.

Didn't realise he wore a Golden Tuna in that film, so you have a screen shot? I remember he wore it in the 70s film North Sea something when diving.

in Thunderball Major François Derval has a Brietling Navitimer in the film, and Bond removes it from his (or rather his double’s) corpse. However, the character in the book (named Giuseppe Pettacchi rather than Derval) wears a solid gold Rolex.

aha the yellow suit, yes. The orange suit is the North Sea film, not Bond.

If you're going to talk about a la-ser on a Bond / Austin Powers thread, please ensure you do air quotes with your hands and emphasise both syllables separately.

I remember the "geiger counter" prop watch (Breitling again I think) from Thunderball turned up allegedly bought at a carboot sale having been "lost" at Pinewood after filming.

That was a Breitling Top-Time rehoused in some other diver case iirc

Scaramanga wore a Rolex king Midas- naturally in solid gold .

I don't think it was the asymmetrical cased, gold faced left handed version as from photos the crown is clearly pointing outwards to his wrist . It's nearer the black faced Cellini type

Didn't Donald "Red" Grant (Robert Shaw) have a garotte that pulled out from the side of his Sekonda (I think) in "From Russia With Love"?

The Grizzled Milkman did well to keep his syrup on in that scene.

In the book "From Russia with love" Red Grant wore a gold GP triple date moonphase.
    Cheers,
    Neil.
