If You Had to Buy a Watch Today

And you had £500 burning a hole in your pocket (or PayPal) account, what would you buy? It needs to be available to order and at or under budget.

I'm tempted by a Dekla Flieger, mainly inspired by the Just One More Watch review.

Steinhart titanium 500. Although it's probably over £500 now.

    So maybe a Seiko sumo.

Or a Christopher Ward diver if a sale is on.

Probably that Cresticle titanium GMT diver with both an inner and outer rotating bezel - looks really very, very good indeed.

Cresticle? Cresticle? My PC wants to auto-correct to Testicle.

Mine did exactly that, hence the edit!
They have now rebranded to Crestic, though their sales photos still show Cresticle.

I'd actually re-buy a watch I already own - MWC Depthmaster automatic, with Tritium tubes:

It does so much that I want - easy to read under all light conditions, extremely tough and waterproof, rotating bezel for timing, sapphire glass, reliable and cheap-to-replace NH35 inside, drilled lugs - £435 leaves plenty for a few nice straps and a well-deserved pint

It's only fault is that it's not a chronograph, otherwise it's the most watch for the least £££ that I own.

I'd watch ebay like a hawk for a slightly underpriced vintage Tudor.

I've always liked the idea of owning an Oyster Price but I thought I would be looking the wrong side of a grand for a good one.

Crestical - now Crestic (what WERE they thinking?), and the only other slight issue is they appear to be closer to $5K...

Their blurb is all rather confusing, and those prices are simply not correct on their website (they may not be USD, but rather another currency?). Unfortunately another example of them giving out very mixed messages on the price point and branding!

They're well within budget in reality: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/c...d-dive-watch#/

Probably put a WTB for an Everest 36mm.

Ah - couldn't see where they were located on their (useless) website! Fair enough - I'd roll the dice on one at that price, lot of watch for not a lot

I'm really really sorry but I sometimes suffer from Schoolboys humor. I just had to laugh at Cresticle.

I think the vast majority of people did, hence why they've rebranded!

First time I've come across them.......................And no pun intended! What were they thinking? I take your point about rebranding and am sure they offer great value for money. What a talking point though, if someone asks about ya watch.

    This is classic.

And this has turned me into Fnbarr Saunders!

Profuse apologies to the OP and I'll get back in me box now.

Thanks for the smiles tonight ;-)

The Tissot Powermatic 80 Silicum looks like a great all rounder at that sort of money. RRP is £650 but I think you could probably get one close to budget by shopping around.

If i hadn't already set aside £500 for this I wouldn't be spending £500 on a watch today.

One of these in no particular order.

G-Shock Rangeman at £399 down from £799 at Ernest Jones

Seiko King Turtle at £550 on bracelet or £520 on rubber.

    Smiths Everest PRS-25 in 40mm for £330

Any variant of the G-Shock B5000 which interested you. Various prices but most are below £500.

If you open yourself up to used I'd probably go straight for an Seiko SPB079. They're £799 new but with haggling can be had for just over £600 so I would guess within your budget at £500.

MWC 300m Military Quartz Divers Watch with Tritium GTLS and Sapphire Crystal on Matching Bracelet

    https://mwcwatches.com/collections/d...tritium-gtls-1

    £339.00 GBP under- budget-tastic.

From what i have seen of the 3 sub £500 Hong Kong watches i have owned i would go for another.

The Turtle homage i bought the other day is nicer than the actual watch it is meant to be a homage of.

I would buy one of these. It’s a Straton Curve. I think they look cool.
    $499.

I’d barter for the Seiko Crown Chrono LE re-issue on SC now. Chuck a few extra quid into that and be well happy.

I had a peek and that is a lovely looking watch but a little too big for me. I prefer sub 40mm.

Think it’s 40mm, ignore the official specs!
Let me put callipers across it, there is no way it wears any bigger than my Sub

If You Had to Buy a Watch Today

Go for something a bit different. You can get the pouch for 19.99 and still have 80 quid in your pocket!
