    Ocean Star Decompression Timer

    Mido releasing a popular vintage model. Not quite like the original but similar.

    “Not quite like the original” nothing like it.

    Why did they bother, different case, different dial, different date cut out, different date wheel, different hands.

    Very poor really.

    I prefer the new one. Looks good on the mesh and for some reason reminds me of ice cream parlours.

    Yes - looks like a fun watch - the history is irrelevant to me. Only 40mm as well... (and looking comes with three straps...)

    Looks colourful yet very much a tool watch made for purpose. Definitely not a desk diver.

    I quite like it, but I think there will be very* few divers who will actually use it as a tool watch.

    * As in any, tbh.

    That's great - colourful but not the usual neon diver colours. Couldn't fail to raise a smile!

    An 80 hour COSC movement seems impressive for the price too?

    A good effort but the colours are a bit wishy-washy (pink/powder blue! - unless it`s just the pic?) and dominate the overall look.
    I like a splash of colour but this one`s a no from me.

    So Hour Passion the only UK retailer has an email address of...

    HourPassion.Bicester@uk.swatchgroup.com

    So there are Swatch but you cannot buy online or direct from swatch...

    I absolutely love the new release, I even prefer it to the vintage one. It is bold and modern, I think Mido did great job not sticking exactly to the original and making an exact copy. I've bought one on preorder from uhrenlounge.de and am waiting impatiently early July to hopefully get the watch.

    And it turns out they only sell older discount stock...

    I must admit, I hadn't noticed that they (Mido) revised the deco timings on the black version for both meters and feet watches, making longer deep dives more conservative and adding a further ten minutes to the required 40m stop (increasing that stop from 80 to 90 minutes). The modern reissue reverts to 80 minutes, which is interesting.
