Probably the fact that West End Watch are reputed to have supplied some military watches but I don't think this one.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
I think the West End Watch Co. supplied the watches used by the police and diplomatic corps in India, they certainly were not digitals but some reputedly had Rolex movements.
I am glad you said that.

2. I always thought there was more connections between Rolex and "West End Watch Co" (of London) but I did some research (at the time) and couldn't find confirmation ...
Rolex bore me because of some of the people who like Rolex.

I sort of know what you mean when you said about the people who buy a Rolex, it is, I suppose, the watch that you buy if you don't know much about watches but believe the Rolex advertising hype about them being the best watches in the world.
Over the years, from the age of about 16, as earnings allowed , I owned many watches always looking for the best watch, eventually I managed to scrape together the money to buy a new explorer 2 (£954) but imagine my dissapointment when I discovered other brands Patek, IWC etc. however I still have the Rolex 15 years later and still think it is a good but maybe not great watch.
