Steeldive Watches - UK based outlet launched

Some of you will have noticed the Steeldive brand becoming quite prevalent on the forum over the last couple of months. I own a couple and they're amazing quality at their price-point.

AliExpress has been selling them for a while however I've never bought from them, instead I use a Cardiff based eBay seller who has been fantastic. His name is Matthew and his service is superb.

Matthew has stopped selling them on eBay and as of this week has launched his own online shop exclusively for Steeldive watches. I don't have any affiliation to the brand or to Matthew, except for getting to know him recently over virtual watch transactions and conversations.

Take a look if you fancy. Oh and let him know I sent you if you buy anything.

    Cheers.

1970 Turtle and 1975 Tuna. Both amazing value. Great builds, everything lines up and NH35 movements.

I bought one of these from that eBay outlet last week. I agree with the comments about quality for the price.

It is a weighty piece and feels very well put together. The bracelet is ok. Not top quality but comfy enough, doesn’t rattle and feel reasonable well balanced on the wrist. The bezel has a very small amount of play but clicks round nicely. The finishing is good and the details on case and dial quite pleasing. It has a sapphire crystal and NH35 movement, so you know what you’re getting there. The lume is good, but the colour of the dial plots in daylight is a very clinical sort of white, whereas I would prefer a slightly warmer off white. The date sits a fraction low in the window, but it changes crisply and is perfectly legible. I’m not super keen on the logo on the dial. But happy enough to live with it.

For 150 notes I am more than happy with it. It’s without doubt not up to the high standards of a genuine Seiko MM300, but it didn’t cost 2 grand, so you wouldn’t expect it to be.

    Bronze Keepers

    Steeldive.jpg

I went for the BB58 in Bronze. Quite impressed seems to be built like a tank! I have put it on a black nato as the strap it came with was not really my cup of tea. I've spent a few hours looking for 22mm natos with bronze fittings, buckle and keepers, but can find anything. Does anyone have any ideas where they can be sourced from? Currently getting lost down YouTube videos about "forced patina's". Ordered the watch on Tuesday afternoon and in came on Wednesday morning! Perfect service. The extra strap that was included was a 20mm (BB58 is 22mm) so steeldive uk are sending me another in 22mm, bonus!!
    Cheers

Great heads up, thanks. I can confirm the quality is superb, although I've just sold mine on sc.

Is this an actual brand or just another drop-shopper who pays for their logo to be stuck on? Because there are tons of people selling these 'homages' and they all look the same.

I was looking into this only yesterday, factory in China supplies most if not all, you just supply the logo.

I recently bought a Sharkey Tuna, and I’m pretty sure it’s the same watch as the Steeldive Tuna. So yes, it’s badge engineering.

I can only agree with David’s assessment of the quality - amazing value for money.

Contacted mindforge and Steeldive (via Ali, very quick to respond). Indeed bronze version has matching lume blue on dial and bezel, steel versions have two colors now - no version with matching lume (currently) exists in steel.

Just emailed the UK agent re this model as i prefer it without but do not want to faf about with alliexpress, customs, charges etc

    Quick update

    “ Hi Martin
Thanks for your purchase from Ebay.I don't supply the sterile version because I am trying to push the Steeldive brand and supplying the sterile doesn't really fit that. However I do get asked quite a lot so I may consider it.Thanks for your interest.

I'm curious. On the website he says they offer a 6 month warranty on all purchases. Is that not below statutory?

That's a bit of a complex one but for the sake of argument - let's just say if it just stopped seven months after you got it - he'd be out of luck.

There is a reason cheap low value Chinese watches are mainly sold directly from out the EU/UK...

Just reading the consumer rights act guidelines it appears that the onus of proof regarding faults changes after 6 months. I guess that's why he's set it at that level.

People can buy from where they want, but I don't understand why people don't do a little research and understand that buying from abroad will, almost certainly, result in a fee on arrival, which is part of the reason for the lower price.

It does annoy me when eBayers (especially) pretend to be in the UK and then I have a long delay while something is shipped by camel train, but if I know something is coming from outside the UK (or EU) I factor in tax and don't expect it in a hurry.

Personally, I've never had any issues with long delays at customs, usually a couple of days at worst, sometimes just hours, and I used to regularly buy stuff from Hong Kong.

Homage.watches only seem to have two items listed on eBay, though, a couple of Pagani Design Rolex GMT-alikes.

There are plenty of horror stories, but as with cars, happy people rarely mention a successful experience.

Steeldive! If it stops working, you can throw it in the garbage!

Just joking. This is a fascinating discussion. Thanks to the OP for sharing.

My Steeldive 'sterile Marine Master' arrived today.

I ordered on the 15th June and it was with the Post Office for fee payment on the 23rd, which seemed pretty decent to me and it could have been with me within 10 days.

I had some problems with the Post Office fee system, but I got that sorted a couple of days ago (The PayPal transaction didn't seem to get processed by them, so they didn't think I'd paid - Which I hadn't as they hadn't taken the funds, although I had a PayPal receipt to say I'd placed an order and it was waiting for them to process it...) and it's just arrived.

It's a nice looking watch for £146 delivered - I like the lack of the Steeldive logo (It looks less cluttered this way) and case, dial and bezel look pretty decent quality (certainly at the price).

If I was quibbling, the crown and bezel feel a little cheap in action, but that is being picky really for a sub £150 watch.

As with most of these Chinese watches, I'm taking the 300M WR rating with a bag of salt - I might try diving with it sometime and see how I get on - Like the Seiko it 'homages', it's certainly a nice clear dial for diving.

    Hmmm!

What fees did the PO ask want?- Did you order the sterile one from abroad by chance?, I presume the Steeldive UK ones are posted from the UK?

Very impressed with mine. Solid bezel click with no wobble, great dial, indice and hand finishing, even the brushing is pretty good on the case. And I'm fussy!

How long does the lume last?

Never fancied paying the price for an MM300 but a cheap one as a beater, that does appeal.

Is the WR good? If anyone has swum whilst wearing one, and not had it leak, that'll be good enough for me!

Thanks for the pics. On AliExpress dial and bezel have different lume. Different versions around?

I’m really enjoying mine. Cheap as chips, but feels really solidly put together in the hand and on the wrist.

Great time keeping too, around +1 sp/d when wearing it.

    It’s a bronze model, which is already developing a nice patina. This is when it was new;
