raise a dispute through ebay and if you paid via paypal this will then lead to a paypal dispute if the seller does not rectify
I’m an absolute eBay numpty so hope someone on here can help.
In Jan we bought our son an Xbox with controller off eBay. Brand new, paid via my c/c on PP and from a seller with 99.9% feedback. All good and working til last week the controller stopped working.
The seller is pointing me to Microsoft for assistance and is not being particularly helpful at all.
Can someone please advise me how to get a satisfactory resolution, which would be a replacement controller.
Thanks
Ian

I think the problem falls under the manufacturer's warranty. Seller is right to refer you to MS. Check your warranty.
Ebay/PayPal will not help in this case.
As it was bought from a private seller so long ago, I too would be inclined to pursue the manufacturer's warranty.

Boss_deals was the vendor
The PP receipt came from Boss Distribution Ltd
Does that matter?
Think as he’s a business seller buck stops with him though Microsoft might be easier to deal with if they accept proof of purchase.
180 days was my understanding too hence the recommendation to raise a dispute
The joys of eBay!
The 180 day limit to raise a claim with PayPal is for SNAD (Significantly Not As Described). It is not a warranty, and as the item worked correctly when first received, it would not be a valid claim. (That's not to say that it might not succeed).
As the seller is a Business Seller, then the warranty sits with them by law. However, it may well be much easier just to go directly to the manufacturer (Microsoft). Even if the seller is amenable, they will probably just send it back to Microsoft anyway, and it just incurs extra delays.
As its just the controller and they are prone to wear and tear when hammered (especially by kids) I would likely just accept it as a bit of bad luck and buy a new one.
The knackered one I'd probably keep and repair it (they are quite easy to monkey with and fixit guides and spares are available) and keep it as a spare or for two player gaming.
(ps4 controllers I usually upgrade the rechargeable battery and any regularly worn out thumb rubber...far prefer the xbox one controller...never had one break to be fair)
If you've paid by CC you may be able to claim under s.75?
