First car boot of the year- SAK score.

Despite the drizzle, I braved the local boot sale this morning, make and gloves were supposedly compulsory but didn't see many people complying, it was pretty much back to normal as far as aI could see.
Slim pickings, the early bad weather I think kept many sellers away, shame as it soon brightened up.
Nothing too much there, but I did pick up this scruffy SAK, I think its the Swiss Champ model, it was pretty grubby and the scales are a bit scratched up, a couple of ultrasonic baths later and a soaking in oil its much more presentable, all the bits are there bar the pen insert, I was pleased to find out that scales are readily available on Ebay so Ive a nice new black set coming, the main blade has a bit of a nick in the blade so I might have a go at that one day. I presume they are easiy enough to put on? Pry off the old and epoxy on the new?
I thought it was a good buy for a fiver.

    Cheers..

Excellent buy indeed. Not really pocket friendly but a great tool to carry in your bag.

I think SAK sell replacement blades individually. Looking at the knicm in the blade it could be ground down but not sure the profile would be as useful after resharpened.

Great stuff. Where are you based? Here in Portsmouth, no car boot sales until September I heard...

Victorinox scales prise off and the new ones are just firmly pressed on, they pop around the rivets. Epoxy glue is not needed for genuine new Victorinox scales, adhesive is only needed for after market scales or if Victorinox ones are reused.

If you were to venture into London with it I recommend a stop at the Victorinox boutique where it will be made to look like new again in a few minutes.

Thanks all, it’s a chunky beast, as SJ says, not really for the jeans pocket, I’ll put it in the man drawer in case I decide to take up hiking 😁

Cheers, I have just watched some YouTube vids that say the same thing, hopefully the new ones I have coming are as genuine as the seller says they are, I’ll post back when it’s done.
    Cheers..

Great find Jason despite the weather!

Nothing at all , for me today at my locals and I got soaked ☹

I think it will be slim pickings for a while mate from what the traders were telling me today , not many house clearances going on and local auctions are very low on stock.

    Nice find Jason.

Still waiting for out boot sales to open.

Looks less and less likely this year.
    Cheers,
    Neil.
