This watch says you’re not some average Joe… you’re a professional idiot.

The rest of the copy is equally hilarious:

I don’t know if it’s the blackout look, unique ocean blue numbers or Benrus Type II dial with 1-12 and 13-24 "military" hour markers, but this watch commands attention from the ladies.

Picture this… you’re out on a date with a girlfriend or wife, and she asks you what time it is. What do you do… glance at your smart phone?

Listen, 9 out of 10 women would agree (even if you’ve been married 30 years)… that there’s nothing masculine, cool or unique about checking your smartphone for the time. You look like every other ‘Joe’ doing the same thing.

But, wearing a high-quality blacked out watch like the SEALION signals you are a man of mystery, a man of status, and a man of style.

    That’s class!
    I want one...
Makes me more attractive to women
    It’s an investment
    Makes me look tougher
It’s also tells the time 3 time better than a Rolex!
    And... it has crown guards

    Take my money!

It’s funny, but every product claim is true, and really is it any different from this:

‘As an underwater survival tool, this watch’s design has been entirely dictated by the practical needs of divers.’

‘The dial’s luminescent Chromalight display is an innovation that improves visibility in dark environments, an essential feature for divers.’

Not a dig at Rolex btw, just that their watch advertising is pretty much the best.

Am i allowed to say that, despite the hilarious copy, it is quite a nice looking watch. It's too big, but the proportions work quite well.

The best/worst watch AD you've ever seen

That’ has to be some of the best and funniest watch marketing guff I have read for a long time.

I could see this guy on the back of a wagon in the mid west selling snake oil!

Best advertising I've seen for a while.Whats an anti-gravity movement? Seriously impressive. Despite the hilarity I read most of the advert so they have done well in getting their point across to an average Joe.American advertising at it's best.

Just read about their other items - concealment shelves. At the press of a button the shelf reveals a hidden compartment containing guns to protect yourself and your family at a moments notice! Why don't IKEA sell this!

    The imagined market: SF.

The reality: 40-somethings living at home whose idea of risk is to eat food that's past its use-by date.

It reads like some of the guff the presenters on QVC spout when trying to flog Vostoks.

    Superb!

I wondered what it actually looks like in the wild, but couldn't find a single image on Google using the search term 'Recon sealion [and sea lion] watch'.

I did find their $79 5950 smartwatch ("This ain't your wife's smartwatch") - sadly sold out.

It’s an exhausting read to get all the way to the end. I can only imagine the sort of cock who wrote it - walking into the office and telling everyone about his new ‘Sergio Giorgini’ suit...

"Nothing screams “cheap watch” more than scratches all over the glass. Don’t be that guy. It looks terrible."

Vintage isn't their thing I guess.

Girlfriend is an advertising copywriter, I don't know whether she was giving herself a hernia cringing so hard at that, they could have been tears of laughter or pain.

Brilliant. Nothing says "operator" more than a fat guy sighting in an air rifle with a watch photoshopped to his wrist.

I can only imagine this the horological equivalent of a Tapout t-shirt.

It is photoshopped. Unbelievable. Don't know why they don't just cut and paste it on to an embassy balcony pic.

They've also photoshopped the exact same watch photo into numerous other locations too :D

So many brand websites are woefully lacking in info - the Recon one goes ALL the way in the opposite direction. "Copy by Cocaine"...

Not proud of myself, but quite like how the actual watch looks, and mildly surprised it's not being punted-out at a P-taking 10X the asking.

    Indeed.

    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
