Would be great to see the reference (watch) for those not so much in the vintage know

I can’t say I’m a fan of this, I think the lugs will be a love hate thing for many.
Nay, it's the lugs for me.
But a 'gilt' Everest with that version Smiths logo, now you're talking.
lover the dial, love the hands, like the size. Lugs for me are the deal breaker, i think they will be marmite limiting the market. Straight lugs would be the way to go IMO then you have a winner
Dial and hands, yea and verily. The rest of it, nay.
Never been a fan of that kind of case/lug arrangement. And I've always had an aesthetic objection to leather straps with that kind of stitching.
It's a yay!
The thing that swings it for me is the lugs. I've been sporting a 33mm Garrard presentation watch with a similar case and lug construction for most of lockdown, and it's possibly one of the most comfortable watches I've ever worn. The lugs make it sit more evenly on the wrist so the watch appears larger than it is, so a 36mm case would be right for a sports watch. Version A with the black dial would be my personal preference of the two. And particular like the script typeface above 6. Any idea how thick the watch will be - can't spot it on the detail sheet.
Eddie Your drive and commitment to bringing these projects to fruition is amazing I am waiting for the 40MM PRS-68 I personally think that is an absolute stonking timepiece.
I’m going to be boring and join the ‘no to the lugs’ group. I just can’t get on with that style.
Everything else is a huge yea though, which I’d definitely consider. Unfortunately my funds are already accounted for by the other upcoming launches!
I'm joining the nay to the lugs group as as well.
Yea to the dial and hands though
A yes for the dial and hands - a vintage Seamaster / Precista 89 mix.
A big no for the case and lugs - bezel is too thick, lugs are just look all wrong for me.
Would the lugs be articulated?

Not for me; lugs look extremely fugly...
I love it. The lugs are setting it apart from other similar case designs you offer. I would only make them slimmer toward the ends. If you use more regular lugs, it will be boring if you have other smiths(black ones). And it is easier to make excuses to yourself for hoarding waches if designs are so different 😁
PS this is my first post on the forum, so hello to all the watch people!
Nay from me for the lugs only.
Aside from the lugs, love it

Don’t love the lugs either.
But I’d love to hear more about its inspiration as its historical roots might incline me differently.

Don't like the lugs, the rest is spot on
No from me. Sorry.
Bucking the trend, it’s a Yea from me.
Vive la difference
Like the dial and hands, like the case dimensions, not sure about the lugs. This style of lugs looks better in pictures than in the metal in my opinion.
I would aim for a case design based on the 50s Seamasters with the fat straight lugs. The design would scale up nicely from the original 34mm to 36 so it ticks that box.
Sorry, no hugs for those lugs
Nay to the lugs. All else looks good.
I love the dial. I'm getting a Railmaster vibe. Not sure on the lugs. I think in real life they would probably look more appropriate but my feeling is that something simpler will be more widely appreciated.
Oh yes to the dial and hands. On the cusp of a beautiful Railmaster homage.
Yes to the strap, particularly if it has the deployment that the Navigator is going to have.
No to the lugs though.
Love the size and movement but in a perfect world would like to see
- slight crease in the hands or bevelled edges rather than flat. Would help with low light readability.
- longer tail on the seconds hand - similar design to the Air Ministry?
- wider crown
- standard lugs - boring but unavoidable I think
As well as the famous Railmaster, there is a Zodiac homage in a normal lugged case called the Jetomatic. I'd like to see that Smiths dial and handset in a 'c' shaped case like the 70's Zenith Autosports/Sportos…..or perhaps a 38mm cushion case like the original Seiko Navigator - a great sized case, very comfortable and a little different from anything else on the market. If you wanted something a little funkier you could always use a case like the Zodiac Olympus Military range (with a bit of shape improvement) … though a little smaller of course. Something more original rather than all-homage!
I'd like to see it on a "Railmaster" bracelet with straight end pieces. That could make the deal!
Back to the drawing board. It wasn't inspired by the Railmaster, it was inspired by the Ranchero which was only made for 2 years in the 50s.

I’m gutted! I know you can’t please everyone, but I’m surprised about the lack of love for the lugs.

Definitely a yay for me but with different lugs. I've been into Seamaster 300 and Railmaster lately and this watch would scratch the itch nicely. The Ranchero broad arrow hour hand also looks much more interesting though IMO.
In the nay camp I'm afraid. Like others, it's a lugs thing for me.
Another nay due to the lugs. But the Ranchero as inspiration is on the money.
Again, yay to dial and nay to lugs.
Love the Ranchero shown, and for the size of lume plots, a broadarrow style of hand might also be a great idea if this were going to be developed, in favour of the dimple Seamster style hands.

Good article on the Ranchero and why it only lasted two year: https://gearpatrol.com/2018/09/27/wa...omega-ranchero
Nay to the lugs, Yay to the rest.
Like the case but not the hands
Apparently the 'nays' have it, but I like the look. Bit of a modernized teardrop lug.
To be fair I think the 'nays' had it only because of the lugs - most were quite positive about everything else (although may be the hands being altered).
Not sure if I would buy it - but having read about the originals short life, I'm actually kind of hoping it does go ahead.
Lose the vintage lume and it will be alright.
