This as far as I can tell is the cheapest Traveller (rather than office) GMT you can buy at the moment from a mainstream brand:

    Gold version

    Silver version

    Good spot.

They have another rarity in the form of an analog alarm watch, albeit quartz:

Heads-up: they have Hamilton's current take on the RAF Pilot's Chronograph at half price at the mo.

I wish I could show my tkmaxx special. I ordered a watch from them a week or two ago and an empty box was delivered. To be fair to tkmaxx they refunded me within about 4 days.

Thanks for the heads up, just ordered one , so , let us see whether it is any better than the automatic one I cited in an earlier post. They were happy to refund , no quibbles and even the offer of £100 sweetener if I decided to keep the thing. 3 days 'till the the next report , or maybe plus a couple of days shake down trials .... Should make a decent beater ..

Be interested to hear how you get on. Fingers crossed for you after the last s***show!

It's taking some self control not to take the plunge, as it's a style I really like, but I already have silly numbers of watches that never get worn...

I know what you mean , I really don't need any more watches but, where's the fun in that ???

£600 looks reasonable for the Hamilton Monaco

Just collected mine and am , so far , pleased. I'll wear it for a few days and report on my findings.First criticism is that the running seconds, centre chrono and 30 min counter hands and shiny bright and would be better not shiny or white. Case is nice and like the original RAF issue with the pushers and crown recessed.

Removed the black leather strap, which is quite nice but thought some sort of NATO might suit it better. The case back is attached by screws, which was a surprise. Also , a choice of 2 positions for spring bars.

Not something I'm too keen on but looks a good price(less than half RRP, although that RRP sounds very high) for this one from a reputable brand.

    https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/men/acc...tch/p/76550301

    https://www.ablogtowatch.com/alpina-...cean-plastics/

There are a few other Alpina there, such as this... https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/men/acc...tch/p/76550294

That Hamilton military chrono was a nice one for the money.

Interesting that a "pilot watch " would need to tell the fellow what day it was.

Review of the Chronograph here https://www.ablogtowatch.com/tissot-...nograph-watch/
45 mm and a Sistem51 inspired movement with plastic parts. Hmmm...

It's £280 for a Swiss automatic chronograph, let's be reasonable with our expectations!

The movement is based off the Lemania 5100 and is apparently rock solid (albeit not glamorous). I'm not in the market for one, but still very tempted to give this one a go.

Bunch of Traser chronos on the site at the moment, very cheap!

This specific example looks like it is up at £550 on Jura.

    https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/men/acc...tch/p/76484463

Check the size, I don't think the TKMax number is correct...

Tkmaxx often get the size wrong. Sometimes make it a bit of a lottery, but that does look good!

If anyone wants a cheap field watch that's not a seiko - some nice luminox currently:

    https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/men/acc...tch/p/76784223

    https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/men/acc...tch/p/76784224

(just a couple of the version):

Mad when you think you can have any two of those for the price of one of the new swatch thingies, and two or even three (sale price) gshocks for each of these Luminox's. Amazing what people will pay for a name.

Do you like any of those though? They look like the kind of thing a 10 year old boy might want to wear for Cub Camp.

Not really Chris, but I expect they are more durable, waterproof, and future proof than the swatchpains for (at tkmaxx money) half the price, and in turn the gshocks I mention will likely be more more durable and waterproof than these for half or less than the price again.

Just bought one - I'm a sucker for a plastic 'Action Man' watch with Tritium tubes and an orange dial...

At RRP they're far too expensive for a plastic quartz watch in the self-obsessed age of the wrist-computer

Is this really so different or somehow less good looking than the blue plastic SwankPain at almost twice the money, best not to look or mention those ghastly Yellow or Green versions...

    https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/gifts/g...tch/p/76924021

And who do you reckon the Swankpain wearer most resembles...uber cool post ironic watch aficionado, grown man in a plastic bright coloured kids watch or sad wannabe/ flipper chancer trying to make a quick hundred bucks...perhaps!

I have a couple - they are very legible, light and basically impossible to destroy. I have them for jogging, dogging, doing stuff in the garden and hiking/down on the beach.

The screw backs made battery changes a doodle.

Bravo! There's no truer test of a watch's toughness credentials than going elbow deep inside some total stranger's horrendously-abused orifices.

Yessir, now THAT is a true Tool Watch
