Are these two of the most beautiful watches you have ever seen?

I saw these on the Hodinkee site last night and followed the various links to Moser and MB&F. I must have spent the best part of half an hour or so absolutely captivated by them. I think they are probably two of the most beautiful watches I've ever seen. I'm going to predict they are not going to be to everyone's taste but, really, just wow! What do you reckon?

If you take away the hands and the dial, then Yes I'd agree they would be very lovely to look at. They sell like hot cakes at Old Firm games too.

Not my thing at all. I like watches which look like watches rather than art installations.

The colours are stunning, but they just don't look like watches.

They definitely look 'one of a kind', just not my kind.

I really like Moser and concept dials (hence the incoming post elsewhere) and I really like MB&F design/philosophy/madness.
It is not surprising then that I REALLY like these a lot. As in I would have bought one of each already if I had the money !

I have been back to their websites umpteen times to look at these since they were release yesterday....

Those dials are amazing... the colors are something I like. But that would be all.

As a piece of art they are very nice things to look at. As a watch I don't think much of them at all.

I wouldn't spend my hard-earned on them; I think they're hideous. But that's what makes the World go around, we all have different tastes.

Interesting. In the way that an accident is interesting.

Not my cup of tea, but remember that when the telephone was invented, most people thought that it was just a gimmick and would never catch on.

Interesting responses. Thanks everyone. Pat Butcher's ear-rings - love it! I quite like the overlap between watches/art so I guess that is why I'm drawn to them. However, not a daily wear and well out of my price range.

But seeing them has remained me what stunning watches Moser make. I've seen a few on here over the years (there was a tabaco coloured dial that was sold last year maybe?). Any of you with Moser watches? It would be good to see a few pics.

Beautiful, but not watches I'd buy.

I wouldn't ever describe a watch as beautiful (a bit like car magazines calling cars performance/bargain/whatever 'heroes') but as a piece of craftsmanship they're pretty amazing.

I really don’t like coloured dials, especially these fumč style or whatever they call a sunburst effect. It’s a no from me.

I love moser, I love MB&F.. but together doesn't work for me. Bit like putting angel delight on a blue steak.

I struggle with high end complex watches like those.

I think they have a place as exhibition pieces but I'm not sure who really buys them. I can hardly read the time on them anyway...

However.... In the same breath I'd walk past a Lamborghini to drool over a BMW M3...

Not really sure how you arrived at the steam punk comparison, so please expand....

These are watches that give the time, not watches that tell the time at a glance. Horological art.

Looks like the sort of thing Ming the Merciless would buy, shortly after he lost his eyesight and converted to braile based timekeeping....

As long as they stay anchored securely in a glass presentation case, they look marvelous. On the wrist, just the opposite!

For me, a major problem of these type of watches is the height. Aesthetics aside, how is one to wear this in any practical sense?

  44. #44

I would pass on these too. As a couple of others have said, cool in the show cabinet but not on my wrist. (Not that I could afford one)

Are these two of the most beautiful watches you have ever seen?

No, is my brief but firm answer.

These are the two most ugly watches I have ever seen, sorry to say that.
