    Loctite Needed?

I picked up an Omega from this forum, which needs a link taking out. The links are connected by screws and a pin. Would you recommend Loctite for the reassembly? If so, which type?

    Thanks

I would , any of the standard blue threadlock would be fine if you want Loctite especially then Blue 242 is what I would suggest

A simple but perfectly effective alternative is nail varnish. Not joking.

I use Loctite 222 on Omega screws (and others). Gives just enough seal on the screw to secure it without causing a problem when trying to remove at some later point.

Works really well. Randomly but related I've used it to hold the electric point of fencing foils in place which takes a lot more beating than a watch strap.

I would use a tiny spot on the threads, don't go mad with it and don't use the really strong stuff. Loctite 222 should be OK. I always recommend using heat to soften Loctite on threads when taking screws out, never apply too much force to screws that are reluctant to come out, just put some heat in with the tip of a soldering iron or a small naked flame.

I like Loctite 222 for peace of mind. A 10ml bottle from Amazon is a lifetime's supply.

I keep some in the garage for small bike bolts.
