Amex giving Platinum cardholders £100 to spend at popular retailers

American Express is targeting Platinum Card holders with an enticing offer. Platinum cardholders will receive a statement credit of up to £100 when we spend with M&S, Waitrose, Deliveroo, Harvey Nichols or online with the Apple Store.

In other words, we’ll get 100% of our purchases back in the form of a statement credit — up to £100.

If you want to take advantage of this offer you will need to check you AMEX account under the offers section and save the offer to your card. Once saved you will be entitled to the statement credit as long as you make your qualifying purchase(s) by the end of August.

Keep checking. Offer was launched on Thursday but didn’t appear in my account offers until Friday. Might be that Amex are rolling out offer in daily batches.

It was there for me. Is yours a platinum charge card or credit card? Mine is the charge card - it sounds almost too good to be true that offer - I guess trying to get you into the habit of using Amex in say Waitrose where I woukd normallyuse my debit card.

That goes some way to offset the fee as the travel benefits that I have the card for haven't been much use this year...

I think that’s exactly why Amex are doing it, to increase value in a travel card in a time when travel is heavily restricted. My charge card will be up for renewal in a few short weeks and so I plan to see if I can perhaps squeeze a little extra from the CS team when I call them up to discuss options. If it ends up in a few thousand extra membership reward points that’s not a bad result.

Hilton etc are rolling status over to next year so if you did cancel you would probably still keep your hotel status. That said Amex bought 1bn Hilton points recently so maybe try asking for them?

Good luck and you are right they need to make the high fee still justifiable beyond a metal card.

Not on my card at this time however Hilton removed then reinstated my diamond level not that it really matters not looking at doing much travelling in the future.

Yes, got that one too. I previously used a 5% one for Ernest and Jones when I purchased my BB58 last year. Very satisfying to see £130 credited to my account for a purchase i was going to make anyway.

The £100 will come I’m sure. Even though I added it to my account on Friday, I received an email from Amex on Saturday informing me of the offer. Pretty sure they are doing them in batches and all will get offer eventually.
