Tap Strap - pay with your non-smart watch

Just had an email about these. Apparently they have a chip in them that allows you to pay for things like you would with an Apple Watch or smart phone, by tapping on the machine. Interesting idea I think. Has anyone tried one?

An interesting take on the contactless payment trend (and very prescient in these times and looking to the future!). I clicked on thel ink expecting to see some hideous monstrosity of a strap, but was pleasantly surprised at how 'normal' these look. Not sure how much I'd be willing to pay for one but if the actual strap quality (and leather) is there then it's arguably worth the £50 price.

I'll just use the wallet in my pocket.

    Or your phone.

I don't understand it if that's its only functionality. I guess it makes your watch have a bit of extra function, but at the cost of a very cheap looking strap.

Edit: that costs 50 quid! Blimey.

Don't really see the practicality, I think Hirsch have launched something similar.

My issue with this idea is there are times the contactless of your card doesn't work and then you just use it the traditional way, if you were relying on just this you'd surely be stuffed in that situation?

If you're still carrying your wallet as back-up then it seems kind of pointless altogether.

Or my wallet :) the contents of my wallet can pay for goods anywhere, my phone can't. I'll carry the wallet.
