    Motorcycle Transport - Moving House

    Afternoon all,

Hopefully moving house in a few weeks and have not done so since I got my licence via DAS a couple of years ago.

I now find myself with two bikes that I need to move and no experience of how to do so!

We’re moving about 12 miles from Sheffield to a village in the Peak District. I’ve seen a couple of firms online who say they will transport either on the day or take away overnight and deliver a day or two later.

Is this how most folk go about it? If anyone has any local recommendations I’d be grateful!

    Thanks in advance,

Assuming you can’t ride them there what about hiring a Transit van for the day, it will also come in handy for anything you don’t trust the movers with.

I used David from this company to move 3 motorcycles and two bicycles late last year. He collected the bikes and we followed in our car.

They are not cheap, but the service was the best I gave experienced with bike couriers. David drives the van Lorraine is the office contact.

    Highly recommended

It may also be possible to hire a bike trailer.
I have collected bikes from elsewhere in the country and brought them home by hiring a trailer local to me. The guy I have used operates on Ebay and Facebook, and charges a mere £20 for the day.
You could check locally to you (if you can tow, of course)

    Thanks All

My M6 doesn’t have a tow bar unfortunately!

Really want the convenience of someone else coming to take the bike. On move day the last thing I want is any involvement myself in moving them.

I’ll have a look at the recommendation above. Any other experiences?

    Get a quote from https://www.shiply.com/.

They are basically online brokers for a variety of transport companies.
