Steveo Para Strap - Best Canvas Ever!

I've lusted after the Steveo Para strap for what feels like years now but never wanted to splash that much cash on 'just a canvas'.

Since buying my Steeldive 'Tuna' I've thought that it was crying out for a top canvas so eventually bit the bullet. I'm so pleased that I did. As per the spec, it's no ordinary canvas strap.

    Here's the spec:

    The Para Canvas
Made from ex RAF G.Q. 60 ft utility parachute deployment bag which was an issued stock and not war reserved. It was serviced at RAF Hullavington, Wiltshire and dispatched to 47 Air Despatch, RAF Lyneman for deployment from the Hercules heavy drop of RAF support command. It has four layers which have been bonded together with a flexible bonding agent which makes this waterproof, strong and probably one of the most pliable canvas straps available. There are two canvas keepers. It is made to fray and will do so instantly.
This total canvas strap is extremely waterproof as it has 4 layers of canvas which are bonded with 3 layers of a special flexible polymer. This still allows the strap to fray as intended.

Craftsmanship and service has been first class. The strap is thick yet durable and looks like it'll fray nicely. it's also very water resistant which sets it apart from most (not all) canvas straps up to this price point.

I think it looks great on the Steeldive too.

I bought one of his straps, made from ex-army Land Rover canvas. Looks great on my Speedmaster.

My Speedmaster lives on a bespoke leather strap from Steveo Straps. It's a lovely thing, immaculately made & so well suited to the Speedmaster.
It was a pleasure to order from Steveo & the strap only took just over a week.

This is one of his more sandy colour pull-through straps (3 ring Zulu to anyone else). I love it, really comfy, no nylon strtch in the wet.

    Thoroughly recommended

    Looks good!
That would go great on my Seawolf. Suitably “mil” numerals and that strap. Nice!

I do like your Siduna, nice watch and certainly looks great with that strap.

Thank you. My most worn watch, by miles. Just as practical as wearing a Sinn, but a little more traditionally elegant, and cheaper too.
Win win, I am glad to have found it.

Snap. I have the same strap sitting on Eddie’s PRS 40. Makes a great combination to my eye. The strap is very comfortable.

That looks like a perfect strap for my Tudor Ranger. Currently it has a green Watchgecko NATO but the canvas looks much more fitting

Cheers Rod and everyone else for your kind words. I wore it in the shower today. It looked completely soaked through when I got out but dried really quickly.

I've seen them, they look awfully like old utility straps from old webbing sets, cut down & repurposed.

I keep looking at that Steeldive model. I know it's just a matter of time before I buy it, it's a heck of a watch for the money. What is the quality of the finish, I can't find any close up photos of the dial and markers.

Really like the look, and the construction of these.

Unfortunately not a fan of all the military markings. Or the union flag.

Being as these are hand made, those features are entirely optional.....

If anyone's on a budget then these are pretty good:

I have two and they've lasted pretty well. Not sure about water resistance but at £8.95, who cares

It does fray a fair bit at first but I just snip the ends. They do them in different colours as well.

I might try their vegan waterproof strap for the same price:

If you don’t want it to fray, run the edges over a flame from a height and it’ll gently seal them.

I have two canvas straps from Steveo. A cream one specially made with black hardware that I have no watch to wear it with at present (there’s a reason !) and this green one that looks great on almost anything. Highly recommended indeed.
