    Help with Lockdown DIY jobs

I’m useless at DIY, but with time on hands and a few niggling things round the house that need fixing I thought it be useful to start a thread where we can seek and find advice

Somewhat prompted by forum help last week in fixing my bbq .....

So here is another one ...... we have this standing lamp. Stopped working. Bulb and fuse changed. What else could be wrong with it ?

Broken contact in holder, or check for a broken wire if any kink spots.

Did you have to take the plug apart to change the fuse which case presume the connections in the plug were ok or if it’s one where it plugs in from the outside, which case check the plug connections. Also presume you tried it in a different socket to rule out it being the socket rather than the lamp.

I know you've changed the bulb and assume that the bulb works in another lamp? That being so I'd put money on it either being the holder (loose wire connection or bulb not making a good connection with the contact at the base of the connector) or the plug (loose connection).

    It cant be much.
Check the bulb in another working lamp.
If that works, check the holder carefully as the others have mentioned.
If that looks ok, i would check the fuse and finally if that is fine, wiggle the flex around to see if there is a break.
It could also be the switch, but i doubt that.
