Sky Q broadband very slow in kids bedroom any boosters to recommend buying ?

Hi all. My lad keeps moaning his PS4 games keep freezing and lagging in his bedroom
Anyone recommend a simple plus in booster to do the job ?
We have the sky Q super fast bb package

Have you speed tested the network in the room? With the addition of everyone at home it might be the PlayStation or game servers lagging

Yes. Getting 25 down load speed in his bedroom. We get 50 odd in the lounge using fast.com

We use net gear plug in adaptors at home that aren’t too bad, install ubiquiti access points if you want to get a bit more advanced.

Call of duty has just had a massive update yesterday, it’s a very buggy game at the moment and they have about 10million more people playing at any one time, so that could be the problem, also fifa is one of the most widely played online games in the world so could also be an update or volume of people online. Ping is used to test the speed at which a network is reachable

Unless I'm mistaken (often am), doesn't the sky q system create its own mesh network independent of the home wifi and then each mini has a hot spot that backhauls over the mesh?

If the mesh is slow then a wifi booster won't help, unless the intent is to connect the playstation to the main wifi point rather than to the mini.

Not sure if Q is using powerline for the mesh yet or if it's wireless

Happy to be corrected if I'm talking rubbish.

It might be a faff, but a Ethernet cable from the router to his bedroom would be the fastest connection I would have thought.
    Cheers..

I had similar problem and was given a booster box. If for some reason they want to charge then you are more than welcome to have mine which is no longer required

^ this is a sure fire fix. Probably only needed temporarily whilst everyone is hitting the various infrastructure points hard, once lockdown is over things should hopefully settle out again.

Have you only got one Q box?
We have main one downstairs & mini upstairs, that acts as a booster for upstairs. You can also run a cable if needed out the mini.

His internet is fine, he's just trying to blame his KD ratio on the connection

I have just got an ethernet cable going from router (kitchen) to our xbox (living room) and it has boosted connection from 10 down back up to 60 down which is what I get at router.. My son plays fortnite (I now also play later at night when hes in bed :D ) and at times the ping/lag is unbelievable, so much better now with the cable in place.

I checked Google and youtube for ideas and every video I watched said having a cable from router to pb/xbox/ps4 is literally the only way you'll get pretty much max speed....

Our Sky Q box constantly disconnects from our BT hub-you have to put the code in again as it doesn't even store it. After doing a bit of reading it sounds like a very common thing and Sky obviously blame the ISP.

Any ideas anyone please? I think im going to have to connect it via a cable but it is a bit of messing about to do it.

I am also on sky super fast bb but WiFi is crap
So I use a power line/ repeater then plug a Ethernet cable in to PS4 upstairs
    Does the job
Do not plug into a extension though
Plug and play and is a wired connection
