Not really. I shower every third day whether I need to or not...

The only two pairs of shoes that smell are my mocasin slippers and my birkenstocks. I've no idea why.

Sliders/Flipflops are worse than crocs and far too girlie.

When I was a lad my family all used moccasins (or moccasin type things) as slippers. You could buy them in M&S etc. I stopped using them when I got my 1st girlfriend as I was frankly too embarrassed to be seen with slippers on.

I've had loads of different pairs of slippers over the years, including some of the poncey/pricey type above, none have come close to the comfort of these cheap ones with a memory foam insole that I got from Amazon:

Well you guys haven't let me down have you

    Having a quick read through this morning I see we seem to fall into the following general categories;

    - Footware abomination, Crocs, Sliders, Flip flops (ffs) and nothing
    - Scandinavian type, felt, wool rubber sole
    - Ugg, North-face boot type
    - Shoes (!)
    - Velvet smoking jacket types
    - M&S

    ....have I missed any?

Boot types will be far too warm for me, but I can see the appeal. I don't frequent gentlemens clubs and don't have a smoking jacket so the velvet type are out. I don't own a shell suit, jogging pants or any white socks so the first category are out too.

So unless we come up with any other options I'll check out some of those Scandi types......the Giesswein look particularly good value with that offer code to.

Thank you all for your input.....I knew I could rely on you.

Giesswein and Haflinger are actually Bavarian/tyrolean types. Only use those and have an excellent arch support. If possible get rubber lined wooden or cork soles rather than plastic linked.

I have worn these for years https://www.samuel-windsor.co.uk/men...EaAjMnEALw_wcB

Great for in the house and the garden. Reasonably durable (the soles eventually split in my experience).

They're ok if you're a woman, cross dresser or on holiday in Benidorm.
Wearing flip flops, crocs or sliders is as big a sin as having a mullet or pony tail when you were bald on top was, in the 80's.

What a bizarre outlook. Wearing flip flops outside with jeans or something is a no no in my books but around the house??

Good point.....I would probably put them in a category of their own. The Secrid of the slipper world I suspect. I do like the look of them but at £79 a pair.....to much.

I stand corrected......maybe I should have used a more Euro/Mountain type description. I do need to explore them more though as I suspect that is what I'm going to try. Thanks

These from Amazon. £17, toasty, with memory foam inners and indoor/outdoor soles. Why pay more?

I have some wool felt slippers from Mongolia that I'm wearing in the colder months, and they've not worn through in 4 or 5 years. The leather sole did, but sewing on another was easy enough. No brand though, so can't suggest them unfortunately!

    Question Washing?!

For those with wool-lined slippers, how do you clean them every few weeks? Can't go in the washing machine, I'd imagine.

    Thanks! :)

Well I've now placed an order for some of the GIESSWEIN ones with 25% off.

Thank you all for taking part in my amusing and enlightening little thread.....you haven't let me down!

Some truly great suggestions (I did like the Mahabi's but too expensive for slippers IMHO) and some truly hideous......what an eclectic bunch we are.

    Have a lovely weekend.

To be honest, the feathers don't normally live in that hat - they were given to me by a park ranger in Tanzania a couple of years back. The hat itself only gets worn every 3 or 4 years...

From reading this thread I’ve realised that I’m happy with my dozens of pairs of hotel slippers that I’ve acquired.

However, what I really need is a red velvet smoking jacket to wear around the house. That would go down well on Zoom.

    Slippers......... one word Sorel

They are the best for all round use and as a PSA, they are currently half price.

    George at Asda man myself.

I replace like for like when the rubber sole disengages from the main body and I end up falling over.

The best thing that happened in this thread for Crocs boy was the sudden appearance of red trousers.
