We submitted one on the 7th March with the express service. They confirmed they still have it and no we haven’t had it back yet.

Usual time advised on the website is 3 weeks. Has anyone done a passport renewal very recently and can advise on approximate time for renewal in these Coronavirus times?

Did my renewal in Early March sent them off on the Monday morning 4 days later on the Friday, courier at the door Two new Passports
Ordered a renewal passport online.
Took the Passport photo on my iphone.
This was rejected by their systems after 4 days, submitted a New photo.
Approval was given after 24 hrs.
Passport landed on my doorstep on day 10.
This was just a simple renewal.
Anyone tried a renewal in April?
There’s a crowd sourced website that provides an estimate. Maybe not the most scientific of solutions but may give a decent indication...

Only emergency passport renewal’s accepted till further notice
Can British passports that have expired be renewed on line? I currently live overseas and have citizenship and passport here but do NOT want to give up my British passport as I will always be British. I know passports easily renewable here (takes less than 10 days). When I last renewed my burgundy passport here, it was sent off to capital, then to UK and back again.
Just checked out link posted above and found overseas passport renewals. Looks like can now be done on line.

In case anyone is hoping for a European holiday this summer, but there passport has/is expired, it tooks 6 weeks to get my sons passport renewed. That was based on an application started at the beginning of May.
I can only imagine this will get worse given the amount of people who have put off re-applying for a passport renewal during lockdown. Unless more staff are back working at the passport office, of course.
I went up there and I think I paid £90 - was it a "next day" service
OK I had to walk around for 3 hours while the application was processed
“From the gov.uk website
Premium and Fast Track services are temporarily unavailable because of coronavirus (COVID-19). Phone the Passport Adviceline if you need a passport urgently for compassionate reasons, for example if a family member has died, or for government business.”

Exactly my story ! but from last week 3rd June it only took longer because it rejected the picture first time , so would of been a week.
Also if you renew online now , make sure if you need a new photo you chose a Photo booth that gives you a code , you enter the code online and your picture appears on the webpage , no need to send the pictures in now
Cheers

Sent the forms in for my son’s passport early April....it took about 5-6 weeks to get back.
Lord. Certainly highlights the pressure folk are facing. I had mine done before lockdown. Submitted it online Friday afternoon, standard renewal, and it was through my letterbox on Monday morning.
