I got a box of old LEGO out this afternoon, and made this...
It's a Tensegrity Structure for the uninitiated... a floating structure using (in this instance) cotton thread under tension to hold equilibrium.

Had a quick go at my own this morning, with help from my seven year old (and his big box of dismantled Star Wars Lego kits).
Ours can't take the weight of an apple, owing to the way I'd wrapped off the cotton - using the pins like tuning pegs to allow easy length adjustment.
But he's still impressed...

There is a definite market for sculptures and desk toys like that I feel - and there don't really seem to be any according to Google.
I'd buy a cool desk toy based on that principle.
So clever my foot fell off.
