Interesting indeed (www.flyzolo.com) but not over the UK at the moment, whereas Sally B flew over my house.

Update Here is the link for OM-S443, Zara's aircraft, and there are some photos here. See also OV443

The record that she is trying to beat currently belongs to Shaesta Waiz.

I’m clapham junction and almost every day since working from home there’s at least one chinook that’s goes along the river in either direction, normally 4.30ish. Sometimes more, and sometimes apaches.

Love the sound, so distinctive. Think they normally seem to go between near Farnham and Royston, always wonder what they’re up to.

    Does anyone live near Gatwick?

ICYMI: there is a consultation on their Proposal to bring Gatwick Airport’s northern runway into use.

According to Wiki, at present "Gatwick operates as a single-runway airport although it has two runways; the northern runway (08L/26R) can only be used when the main runway (08R/26L) is out of use for any reason."

I used to, the noise wasn't too bad for me as I wasn't near the flight path. But we did notice the difference during the short-lived but glorious days of the ash cloud.

However, people in the nice little village of Warnham won't be happy.

It’s a pretty short runway and part of the terminal obstructs the eastern end.
It has been used when the main runway is out of action but I can’t see it drastically altering the amount of traffic. The consultation states it will be used for departures only and by smaller aircraft.

Westland Lysander G-CCOM flew over earlier. Couldn't see it, as I was otherwise occupied at the time, but I heard it and looked it up on ADSBExchange. I'm quite miffed I missed it.

A Coast Guard helicopter is executing a sector over the French side of the Dover Strait...https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=406dea:

The Calais lifeboat has just returned to base but two French auxiliaries are in attendance.

    Update: It's a sad story: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-59406355:

A number of migrants headed for the UK have drowned in the Channel near Calais after their boat sank.

French prime minister Jean Castex said the shipwreck was a "tragedy", adding those who died were victims of "criminal smugglers".

Police say 27 people have died, AFP news agency has reported...

    Someone is having fun: https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=406466.

In the wake of the recent storm I was surprised to see a glider out and about. When I tapped on the icon expecting to see "Glider" the ICAO descriptor came up as VENT. Apparently that is a self-launching powered glider and this one, a Schempp-Hirth Ventus 2cM, is a recent acquisition for the owner.

Just been watching OLIVE92, a RC-135V Rivet Joint (63-9792), flying from Lincoln, Nebraska to who knows where.

    https://www.flightradar24.com/OLIVE92/2a040d36

I saw that it met up with a tanker from Mildenhall above Skye, looks like it got refuelled there, and then they flew in loose formation across England, down to the Wash. The tanker went home to Mildenhall whilst the Rivet Joint circled just to the north west of Mildenhall to gain height to 35,000 feet and then headed south towards London.

To my great delight it flew directly over my house in north west London and then over the centre of London. I was able to go outside and watch it. It was leaving a beautiful contrail and the body was glinting in the morning sun as it headed south. It finally left my field of view over the rooftops when it was near Gatwick.

As I write, the aircraft is now over the English Channel, about to cross of the French coast to the south west of Dieppe, still at 35,000 feet.

I see that he's making a beeline for Paris. Some good photography opportunities there, overflying both London and Paris. ;-)

Indeed, it flew to the west of Paris.

Is there a prohibition against overflying the centre of Paris?

Looking right now, there is one aircraft on what looks very much like a sightseeing flight overflying the inner suburbs of Paris but nothing right over the centre of Paris. https://www.flightradar24.com/FHUBG/2a04d3b0

Yes there is. Even for Bastille day there needs special dispensation and very strict adherence to timing and flight path. I do not know how it may have changed since I left, though.

For anyone sufficiently interested, OLIVE92 is now over Greece, still at 35,000 feet and roughly 500 knots, heading in the direction of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, etc.

This appears to be a Qinetiq craft over Thorney Island. ADSB-exchange reports it at 97,400 ft - previously I've seen drones here but not that high

I spotted that earlier and there was an MoD registered EC135 around in the same area about 10.
This was in the same sort of area a day or two ago - https://tamebay.com/2021/05/uncrewed...ery-trial.html
So there was definitely a drone about.
I suspect the 97400ft is not being reported correctly, however there’s no reason why it couldn’t be there at that level! 😂
