    Omega Sunglasses

Apologies if I’m super late to the party here and this has been covered before, but did you guys know Omega make sunglasses these days??

Not cheap, some of the designs are ok though (way out of my price point even at the best of times though!)

Blimey, couldn't imagine spending that on sunglasses.

Omega don't make sunglasses. They sell them & may have a design input.

An Italian company (Marconi Eyewear, I think) is licensed by Omega to produce their sunglasses.

So £50 sunglasses with £400 on top for the brand name printed on them sounds about right then.

Good point - should have said Omega sell Omega branded sunglasses now

Seems they’ve been collaborating with Marcolin since 2016

I guess a specialist manufacturer producing them should mean a better product than retooling a watch workbench to create glasses!

Still not gonna make me reach for the credit card though!

TAG didn't make eyewear. It was made under licence by a French company, Groupe Logo.

Always irritates me when companies dilute their brand and move totally away from their main product line. Barbour shoes, Omega sunglasses, Emma Bridgewater phone cases - stick with oiled cotton thornproof coats, watches and jaunty crockery etc
I have noticed a pattern where companies seem to suddenly stick their brand on anything, devalue the brand then within 5 years the company disappears/goes into administration to re-emerge as a mainstream cheaper brand. Not saying it will happen with Omega but somehow it cheapens the core product

It irritates me too (although I am guilty of having bought a pair of 'Tag Heuer' sunglasses, but simply because I liked the style not for the logo) but I'm not sure that it dilutes the brand for ALL brands particularly.

I mean if you want a Mercedes umbrella or some Aston Martin golf tees (I made that one up) then you can get them. I'm not convinced that it negatively impacts such established brands.

That said, Chanel watches irritate the crap out of me. Stick to overpriced designer clothes and top end smelly stuff FFS....

Why does this convo bring this to mind....?

I’m also confused by these types of things and what the right situation would be to wear them

Do you have to own an omega watch to own omega sunglasses?

If so, do you then have to wear them both at the same time, or do you expressly have to not wear them at the same time as that would be uncool (‘it’s ok, my other watch is a Speedmaster’)

Same reason I find things like montblanc cufflinks and belts a little odd (whether or not you have a pen or watch)

Only exception I can think of off the top of my head is the Aston Martin cygnet, would have one of those rebadged IQs as a city runabout if I had an Aston (I might have sidetracked myself too far both from the subject and reality here!)

Not for me thanks and way overpriced... Think I'd rather put that money towards another watch :)

Exactly what I was wondering. It could very well be naff to sport Omega sunglasses whilst wearing an Omega watch, and potentially even more naff to wear Omega sunglasses whilst wearing a beater or a different brand of watch (unless your beater is an Omega, but then see my first point). Hmmm....best avoid and just wear sunglasses from a sunglasses manufacturer. At a much lower price.
