    RIP Lord Bath

Owner of Longleat died today of the virus. Truly one of Britain’s most colourful characters

That’s sad. He seemed a real character.

RIP the Loins of Longleat, a true eccentric.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

An absolutely glorious maverick, we could do with more of his kind.

Mad as a box of frogs but interesting and vivacious character. Longleat won’t be the same without him.

Longleat is just up the road from me and like most local kids I worked there at Longleat Restaurant in 1971-1972 as an 18 year old.

Alexander (Viscount Weymouth then) often popped into the kitchens to poach the waitresses for his own dinners and 'parties'. The restaurant then was run by JG Boyes of Southampton and merely leased from Lord Bath so technically were not Longleat staff.

The younger waitresses in particular used to hide in the Ladies toilet when he came on the pilfer as their older colleagues would warn them off saying that other duties might be expected.

That said he was always full of fun and had a word for everyone.

Such a character and will be missed.

Will the same be said of Harvey Weinstein?

A sad loss, I sold Ice Cream at Longleat for a few years whilst at uni, one of my most enjoyable jobs ever.

Alas that is when my career and Duncan B's went in different directions & successes!
