I don't know why but this is boiling my piss today.
"Redux is a post-positive adjective meaning "brought back, restored used in literature, film and video game titles."
It does not mean Reduced or reduction.
Thank you!

Since this is in Watch Talk I assume it’s something to do with watches, but apart from that I don’t understand where you’re going with this, OP?
Simon
Agree with you OP.
Another annoyance is "back story". A watch doesn't have one.
Ooh I love a nice long relaxing soak in bath salts, might have to have one later.

Could be a fake watch with a few letters changed to put the lawyers off the scent
I raised this very point here a few years ago, as it happens. Unfortunately people either didn't understand it, or don't particularly care about the standard of their communication. But people don't come here for English language lessons and if they don't wish to communicate properly - so be it. Best to ignore it.
Can someone please give me some context - I’m still lost...
Simon
But doesn't the language constantly evolve anyway? "Wild", "wicked" and lately "sick" now also mean something really good alongside the original meanings. "Gay" is an obvious example. "Decimated" is now used to imply something has been nearly wiped out or destroyed, when originally it was a punishment for 10% of a Roman legion or cohort. There are many many more examples, possibly redux is going the same way, although I cant see it going into general speech as its use in the new context will be mainly confined to sales sections of specialist fora such as this.
First world problem.

OK:
I probably have been in the house too long.
...and yes the language does indeed evolve, not always in a good way innit? At least in my opinion, others may hold different views.
Chillax!

I'm not phased by this.

I didn’t bond with it and I’ve seen something on SC I like so this is a cash raising exercise.
If I didn’t have one already I would be all over this.
Does any other part of society speak like this?
... all over it like a cheap suit!
I've heard this said in meetings.
I thought catch and release was something that Butterfly enthusiasts did in a meadow with a big net, not something that applies to a watch taken out of a cardboard box then hurriedly taken to the Post Office and released back into the mail system.
There have also been a few on here recently caught out lying like a cheap carpet
Should I pull the trigger on this bad boy?

Whenever an estate agent refers to an 'en suite bedroom' I always wander what it's 'next to'. I have four en suite bedrooms. En suite to the hallway, that is.
Having said that when I joined TZ I did wonder why what I now know to be a 'deployant clasp' was called a 'deployment clasp'.
