    Day-Dates and the CV Lockdown

I know that the inclusion of a 'date' window on a watch is often a divisive matter - but since the Corona Virus Lockdown I'm beginning to lose track of what day of the week it is!!!

Hence I'm now finding I'm preferring to wear watches which have both a Day and Date complication - am I the only one?

No. But then I preferred a day and a date before CV.

Got to say, I'm finding day & date on my watch quite handy currently.

I generally only like it on one watch in particular, by the same name.
It's just a matter of time...

I've been losing track to a degree. My problem is the date though. Half !y working days seem to be writing out product date labels, so was always aware of the date. Now I'm bumbling around with a bb58 on, i feel a bit lost.

I have already lost track of what day it is several times, it may have been on the radio or a podcast that I heard now being described as like the period between Christmas Day and New Year. I only have two watches with a day feature, neither of which Iím wearing as I just donít care at the moment.

I obtained my 18238 just as the lockdown started and it's been a good companion. I have had a few Seikos in the past with a day date function with SAT in blue and SUN in red. Nice touch imo.

    Red face

Most of my watches have a day and date function but I never set them. As I wear them all in rotation Ive always found it a real faff to have to set the time, day then date. Ive never bothered with the last two and I still dont, If I want to know the date or the day I just look at my phone. I do have to look at my phone more often these days to check what day it is though.

Worn my day date every day since lockdown, kept me right when my wife was insisting Wednesday was Tuesday.

There was a beautiful old black-dialled Tudor date+day ďjumboĒ for sale near me a couple of years back; I lusted after it mightily, but ultimately the lack of quickset held me back. Wouldíve been a cracking only watch...

I've been retired for years so every day is very similar and I generally don't know what date it is, or maybe never now care

I generally prefer Seiko's with a Kanji date wheel, so I'm never sure looking at my watch what day it is anyway

the older i get the more I prefer a "no-date" as it's just a fiddle to change when it's incorrect

As a daily wearer, I'm moving more towards quartz - a 7548 in a 6309 case as I'm sick of adjusting the time on my mechanical watches

but the just me, I'm generally a grumpy old bugger and the present situation is making me worst, plus I trapped a nerve in my shoulder a couple of days ago moving some paving slabs in the garden....... so you can guess how I feel

You are absolutely correct of course. I mean, are we saying it's essential?

It sounds like we're saying it's essential.

I you have a >3 collection, all complications becomes an annoyance in my experience.

When you switch, you just want to wind, set and go.

I hadn't given it a seconds thought until seeing this thread, but I've just counted and I think I currently have 12 with a day/date function.

Where necessary, I always set the day and date when putting them back on.

Here’s my 1970’s Tissot PR516 GL. Obviously they hadn’t thought about a red ‘Sun’ then - but I do have the recent re-edition of this Watch that does have it

I hate Mondays. I mildly dislike Sundays, as they remind me of Mondays (I think this is all linked to my job, but that's another discussion). And so generally, I like date only watches.

However, and ironically, I have 4 day/date watches. One a Casio Protrek that I love; two Seiko's being a SKX 009 and 6309 cushion case vintage; and a Sekonda manual wind.

I prefer the days to be all in black, and so the 009 is my least favourite, with a blue Saturday and red Sunday. The other two mechanicals have red Sundays only, which is better, but annoys me that they're red.

However, on holiday, I tend to take 2 watches. My protrek because I love all the gadgets AND the fact it's a day/date; and a mechanical, usually one of the Seikos. I find it quite handy to have a day date on holiday.

Whilst on lockdown, I swap watches about a couple of times a day, and wear a mixture of no date, date only, or day/date. Now I've got my Seiko 6309 diver on. Black Saturday which is a plus.

I know, I know, but you asked.
