    A Invicta you might like?

    Hello,

Just thought I'd post the new Invicta (yes I know..) that i have come across.

I believe it's a homage of an original rolex sub made in 1953, hence the name 'Invicta 1953'

Putting aside the brand Invicta, I like the watch!
    200m water resistance
    Seiko Nh35
And I also believe a SKX crystal fits perfectly!

And it was selling for about $90, it's now sold out but that's a perfect cheap beater.

Pics below (just got them of google)
    Attached the original rolex to.

Looks nice , does it have Invicta stamped into the case?

Never understood the hate for them to be honest , always felt you get a lot more then you did with the SKX

No invicta stamped on the side thank god!

The brushing and polishing looks way above its price point to me!

I like this a lot. Would look fantastic with a bleached bezel insert.

If it fits SKX crystals and has a Seiko movement then that opens up a whole world of modding possibilities. I approve.

That's a nice looking Invicta for the money , nice one

It is not about how they look.

A quick search through reviews and in seconds you find people saying their Invicta leaks water, stopped or otherwise was rubbish tat.

I've had an invicta in the past and it was nothing but exceptional to be honest, it was actually my first mechanical watch so kept it in my collection.

Worked for about 7 years before I decided to have a go at tinkering with the movement and messed it up

I think the build quality to price is fantastic personally

As said previously I think this could be a good base for modding
    Domed crystal
    New second hand with lume
Sterile dial (I don’t like the typeface used)
Bleach the insert and it could be a good everyday wear.

It is indeed a really nice looking watch but unfortunately I could never bring myself to wear an Invicta.

I have a habit of every spring buying a beater diver to use for six months as we tend to do a lot of outdoor activity, travelling & adventuring with the kids, sports, water activity and so on, and then often flipping it when summer is over.

I’ve had a number of these sub £100 homage divers and I’ve opted to steer away from them now. It’s not even an Invicta thing - my missus has an Invicta sub homage in women’s size and it looks really good on her. It’s just that on regular wear you start to realise the build quality is flimsy and that you really are getting what you pay for, even if initially it seems like amazing value - ie, naff bezel, non existent lume and questionable water resistance.

You can get an Orient diver for £150 or less which is outstanding value. I had the Mako II as my beater last summer. Or if you can spare a couple of hundred quid more grab an SKX or Steinhart and rest comfortably knowing the watch is rugged enough to be put through its paces.

Having said all that, the Invicta 1953 really does look the part and at the very least has a decent movement; definitely a good proposition for an aesthetically pleasing desk diver on a budget.

Clicked on the thread expecing to be typing "nope!" but it's a "yep". I do like that. The thing I dislike most about Invictas is that horrible winged logo glued to the dial. However I have a Kemmner 007 so I don't need one. Probably.

Certainly the best looking Invicta I’ve seen.

Nice! As someone said earlier, just lose the font, the Invicta word itself doesn't bother me, just don't like the font used for it. But looks great value all the same.

I did see one person complaining of water in the watch with the winder clearly left unscrewed, I cant help but feel after reading some of the complaints are from people not used to automatic watches. I cant see why the venerable NH35 would be any less reliable when placed in a Invicta than a Seiko

I clicked on the thread and was ready not to like it at all, but it's really nice.

I thought one of these may make a nice beater for the summer so started looking around for one. I was lucky with the timing of an Invicta EU sale and got a black/orange version for 99 Euro - I think maybe it was the last one.

    FedEx delivered it this morning:

wish that they could have the logo shrunken by 30%

Is this a UK thing - but I’ve never seen an Invicta ‘in real life’ - are they a big seller in the US as they seem to have zero presence over here?

A sentence that no designer has ever heard coming from his clients/employers...
