goodness. When I was at school digital watches had only just been invented! I couldn’t afford one , except the Sinclair “black watch” who’s battery lasted about 24hrs, bit like modern phones then.. how times don’t change

I left school 24 years ago so smack bang in the quartz revolution. It shows the scars of a teenagers wear but has lasted surprisingly well!

My first digital at school was one of those Red LED watches, it was the bionic man one, probably worth something today.......

    Oh God it’s a disease... I’m now looking up B1s on Chrono24

It’s my birthday tomorrow and I’m trying to talk myself out of doing something stupid... in the middle of a pandemic when I have no income!

    Hell yes! That's gorgeous.

Mind you, I'm a massive fan of digis and ana-digis. Aerospace and an X-33 here plus a few vintage digitals. Wrote about them a while ago: https://mmcmusings.com/2015/03/29/my...tage-digitals/

I've long fancied one of these Orients just can't find one.

It's the same size as a Speedy Pro, just with added pusher guards. It doesn't wear big. Well, mine doesn't.

It’s incredibly accurate, useful, wearable, a great travel watch, and it looks awesome. I do have a background worry about long term costs, but I’m enjoying it here and now

Tough sub £100 digitals in work and more expensive analogues at all other times.

I don't wear expensive watches in work, they would get badly damaged because I don't sit in an office all day.

I guess you'd need to be careful wearing that in the sun, would leave a pretty distinctive shape with a suntan

Great watch though, really like those.

    I love my B-1
Ultimately though - analogue wins for ease of read

I had completely forgotten that I had one of those as a child. I though it was the mutt's nuts and wore it solidly. During lessons I would watch the second hand "disappear" behind the others. Explains a lot these days.

I've always been drawn to those Speedmasters.

    I think it's because I love 70s and 80s tech but 60s heroes that I can't quite decide.

I had one of those. Must have lost it, or perhaps I broke it. I wasn't fond of it because the 'virtual' (if you like) second hand had exactly the same appearance as the minute hand, making it impossible to tell the time at a glance. Should have been a two hander with digital seconds, a bit like an Aerospace.
