Apologies. I thought something odd was going on in this thread and was wondering what folk was on about. In the tapatalk app on my phone the poll doesn't appear so I thought it was just listing you fav soups in general. I'm now on my computer and voted french onion out of that list

    My chorizo and kale soup
fry chopped onion and diced chorizo in a saucepan
bung in a carton of passata and same again of water
simmer for 10mins for flavours to mingle
bung in a drained tin of borlotti beans and some good fistfuls of chopped kale, or my favorite cavolo nero

The poll is really limited as it only allows ten items, so it's nice to have all the other contributions.

...even if some of them sound absolutely gopping...

I'm assuming out of a tin so I went for Tomato but Pea and Ham is the best tinned soup fro me.

If homemade then its hard to beat good vegetable soup. I don't have fancy tastes.

During my travels in Sweden and Finland I was pleasantly surprised by the reverence attached to pea and ham soup; a Thursday ritual like fish and chips on Friday or Sunday roast.

Try some Soldatens Ärtsoppa for a change.

Câwl made with either some neck of lamb or shin of beef.
Failing that it has to be a really well made French Onion with crispy cheesy croutons
And last but not least Leek and Potato.
love a decent bowl of soup!

Cullen Skink, or minestrone or anything herself makes,(most of the above) she has done the chorizo and kale, isn’t a Portuguese recipe?
Not a fan adding parmesan to soup, it goes into gooey lumps, or am I doing something wrong..

Cullen Skink,Bouillabaisse,Lobster Bisque and Fish chowder would be very difficult to choose from
The work that goes into a nice Bouillabaisse is substantial as is lobster bisque from scratch.
I always choose French onion if its on a menu(in the absence of above) but i am often left disappointed as very few places master it.

Man after my own own heart with these choices. Very similar to your third option is a good cocker leeky. I recommend.

I've had Cullen Skink all over Scotland over the years (I will always order it if it's on the menu), but the worst example I ever had was in the hotel which claimed to have invented it!

    Tin of tomatoes
Tin of baked beans (the cheaper the better)
1 Apache chili pepper chopped fine, or 1 level teaspoon chili flakes.
Pinch of sea salt (preferably Cornish)

Put the ingredients in a saucepan, blitz with a stick blender, heat and eat.

    Delicious Spicy Mexican Bean Soup.

Try it - you can thank me later.
Made this, had half a tin of beans leftover so I've added in some white beans to make up approx proportions and used some dried peppers instead, thanks it's pretty good soup.

Given that I've had a bit more time for cooking recently, last week I made chicken soup, using stock made from a chicken carcass left over from the previous day. That was good. My favourite soup, however, is probably ham and lima bean, made from the end of roasted ham.

    Best wishes,
    Bob

Sorry to dig this old thread up but I’ve just had a tin of Heinz beef broth and if it doesn’t beat oxtail it’s a close second (only tried as I ran out of oxtail)

Trying to name my favourite soup is like trying to name my favourite song or film. It changes all the time depending on what mood I'm in but I'll have to mention Tuscan bean.

Damn, I voted for the most popular, Tomato.

Actually, I make a decent cucumber soup with home grown cucumbers (there are always too many come August) and chicken stock.

Pea & ham and a good chunky vegetable soup. I use canned mushy peas to thicken the vegetable soup.

Anything herself makes does me and she will make soup with almost anything that's around, as long as it sticks to my ribs on the way down it'll do, soup is a meal in liquid(ish) form not thin dish water.

Anyone who isn’t a student and still eats soup from a tin needs to have a word with themselves! Get a soup maker and never look back - can’t decide on my favourite, a close fight between lentil, pea and ham, or cauliflower. Would also throw one from the slow cooker into the mix - chorizo stew, it is epic

Exactly !!!!!!!! Especially the stuff with BIG bits in it. :) Then it would have to be Asparagus soup with a dob of buttery cream. Freshly made of course. Not tinned.

Oops, just realised date of thread. Was there a result to the poll?
