Tom kha edges the edge. But I agree in principle. If only they made a soup out of that tamarind sauce tamarind duck comes from that would be even better.
Carrot and Coriander
French Onion
Chicken Noodle
Mulligatawny
Lobster Bisque
Hot and Sour
Broccoli and Stilton
Tom Yam
Minestrone
Tomato
Soup is super - warming, tasty, hydrating and nutritious. What's your favourite brew in the liquid meal department?
A lot of popular concoctions didn't make my arbitrary list so please tell us your own if not included.
I'm rather partial to laksa and chowder which didn't make the cut, but my favourite would be a close call between Tom Yam and Hot & Sour.
Tom Yam edges it, the flavours are amazing.

Tom kha edges the edge. But I agree in principle. If only they made a soup out of that tamarind sauce tamarind duck comes from that would be even better.
I have a few artisan mussels soup that we bring back from our place in SW France every year. A fantastic treat with grated emmental, and a few drops of cognac.
Whenever friends go to the US I ask them (beg, really) a few cans of Campbells’ New England Clam chowder. Never bettered, by any canned soup. Add a can of fresh whole milk instead of water as per instructions.

If I'm going to have a liquid diet, it'll contain alcohol.
Closest I'll ever come to eating soup will be wonton soup.
No Cullen Skink... poll is invalid
Leek and potato.
By a country mile my favourite is the provencal fish soup that is the liquid version of bouillabaise, served with all the rouille, emmental and other trimmings.
Nothing else comes close.

Turkey and Chestnut (made with left over Christmas Dinner)
Marrow and Lentil (when you just to be able to buy Marrow Bones.
Leek and Smoked Bacon

Tom Yam is a bit of a fave, also love a hearty veg!
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
Tom Yam from the list. And probably one of my all time favourites. But the issue with a lot of soups - lack of texture! Must have some crunch!
No watercress and gin soup? Crazy.
"A man of little significance"
Cullen Skink too. Even the canned stuff at a pinch, but more for winding up my colleagues when I re-heated it in the microwave. I was usually followed by a colleague who then re-heated his fish dinner leftovers. We were roundly despised on those days. Another success then!
Where’s the oxtail?
Plain tomato. No "Cream Of", no added herbs or spices.
Mrs Mick does parsnip and coriander and although it sounds revolting it is the best soup ever.
My old mums lentil soup recipe!
Or a nice hearty home made onion soup, topped with bread and gruyere cheese.
Definitely not in the spirit of the thread, but anyone want a simple-to-make super soup recipe?
Tin of tomatoes
Tin of baked beans (the cheaper the better)
1 Apache chili pepper chopped fine, or 1 level teaspoon chili flakes.
Pinch of sea salt (preferably Cornish)
Put the ingredients in a saucepan, blitz with a stick blender, heat and eat.
Delicious Spicy Mexican Bean Soup.
Try it - you can thank me later.

Heinz Oxtail Soup with homemade bread, or Heinz (Cream of) Tomato Soup with (you guessed it) homemade bread.
Anything else is illegal in this neck of the woods.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
For me, pea and ham with a pinch of chilli flakes.....
I make my own carrot, coriander, chilli and coconut soup in batches and freeze it, and is my 'go to' when I want something easy and tasty. Delicious with a naan bread
Curried Parsnip does the trick here.
Cullen skink
Arroz caldo (Philippines chicken and rice)
Cream tomato
Spiced parsnip
Roasted sweet potato with pistachio and orange.
The last 3 are sat in the freezer bagged up for us and my folks in case of a full lock down / one of us shows virus symptoms

I voted Tom Yam but actually Sambar would be my first choice.

In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
No mushroom soup option ?
Thats my tipple.
I must admit I like most soups and have a can for lunch most days in the colder months - In the past I've made my own soup, but for the effort it takes it's not worth making a small amount and I soon get bored with the same one day after day.
I voted Stilton and Brocolli, but the only one I actively dislike is Mushroom and that's because I hate Mushrooms.
That said most Tomato soups leave me a bit underwhelmed and I'd say, as a general category, it's my second least favourite - That said, I've had some lovely Tomato soups. French Onion (another popular choice on the poll) is quite far down my list, too, whilst I do like a nice Carrot and Coriander!

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
Of the ones in the poll then Mulligatawny. But, as others have said, there are far better. Home made Leak and Potato with a little garlic is wonderful with some fresh baked Ciabatta or Sourdough.
I'll be putting my dried beans and various pulses in to soak later today for a batch of home made Zuppa del Contadino tomorrow.
Best Regards - Peter
I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.
Just had some Baxter’s royal game soup nice with som brown bread
No oxtail
The ones I do frequently are the "Minestrone" and the tuscan "Pappa al pomodoro" i.e. tuscan tomato soup. Other firm favourites are onion soupand, when in season, roasted pumpkin soup.
All with the compulsory toasted sourdough bread slice.
Voted tom yam as I love the stuff but could easily have been French onion, or clam chowder or pea and ham or mulligatawny or pea and ham or.... I do rather like soup. Unfortunately I also like it with some good, dense, crusty bread which no longer agrees with me which has curtailed my soup eating lately.
