Am I allowed to post a link to a third party website?

I think that’s ok isn’t it? I’m not affiliated with it and they’re a great resource for Omega clasps and buckles etc.

I think I remember reading that the 42mm 8500s are 1.5mm thicker than the equivalent 2500 versions, not sure about the 8900s or 45.5mm versions though.

One of my favourite watches, along with my 2500 orange bezel. Very hard to call it between the two.

It is the saphire glass back as I understand it which adds the depth.
Wish they would offer a SS back for the 8500.

Whilst a lump it is no more so than my Seiko MM300.

I love a classic black-on-black dive watch (I should do, owning several of various makes).

So, for a daily-wearer I think the blue version would suit me best - there's something very 'Omega' about them, probably for me because of the Bond Seamaster that Brosnan wore in 'Goldeneye'.

The one I like most though is the black dial with orange bezel - it's a watch that's instantly recognisable, and I appreciate distinctive looks.

I may be wrong, but I always understood the 8000 series movements were thicker than the 2500 series, hence the need for a deeper case.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

You could be well be right. From memory there was a slight increase in movement size, but I seem to remember when they were released the glass been given as a reason. If you need 4mm ( or whatever it might be) thick crystal on the top....you need the same on the bottom.
    Happy to be corrected.
