I think the black faced one. When I had the option to choose any watch as the result of an amazing year by my former boss, that was the exact watch I chose. Referred it to anything else at the time and at that point, my only watch was am SKX007. Still have it and has never been out of rotation as it is just a clean and beautiful face! :)
Black black black.
Moving my 45.5mm 2500 on remains a bit regret. I would have either model back in the collection at a blink but that is still a bit toppy for me.
Thanks for sharing

Love the Planet Ocean. Have the earlier model and it too is always in the rotation.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
Where are these bargains please??
I think the newer ones lost a bit of the simplistic charm of the originals - but of the 2 i'd go black face.
Well, actually, i'd go 2500 and did - I adore it!
The one that I am always looking out for is now discontinued, but it is the 42mm titanium one in blue with the 8500 movement.
I really think that is the best combination of size, material and movement for me.

Never keen on blue dials personally. I've rather taken a liking to the orange-bezelled version.
Definitely the orange one, there was a bit of a bargain on SC recently
I'm going to buck the trend (again!) and say I'd personally go for blue.
I've always liked the look of the POs, but never quite enough to actually buy one. Maybe it's the external HE valve that puts me off? All my watches with an HE valve have flush ones - I think it's more elegant...

Well that was a set of photos that kept on giving. Great pics.
See but now the black looks great as well
The black looks good but the blue is a little better for me

I used to have a PO pretty high up my shortlist, but of late I'd fully moved on in my search for a post-COVID-19 new watch. Always had a soft spot for Omegas, but I've gone more towards a BBB/Pelagos recently. This thread has got me rethinking that. Still love a Black Bay black, but I'd forgotten how nice the black PO can be.
I've considered the 39.5mm a few times, but it's underwhelmed me when I've tried it on. I still think about it now and then. The blue would make a great summer watch.
Love mine. 42mm 8500. Currently on a NATO.
Probably the most worn of my watches (especially bas the BB GMT has gone back again...lost the love for Tudor).

I came incredibly close to splashing out on a ‘bargain’ PO 8900 black and orange just before the arse fell out of the world. Pleased I didn’t now. Well, sort of pleased but it’s a watch I will definitely be looking out for when things look more stable financially.
Out of he two you mention, it would be the black for me. A very cool watch.

Another black and white 8500 42mm (wel, isn't actually 41.5mm?) here too. It ws my first luxury watch and until last year was worn daily, it dreses up and down beautifully. Still my favorite watch by a country mile.
POs feel like the very epitome of the kind of watch you need to see on your wrist before making any judgement.

Another black on black 42mm 8500 owner here. I see this version is quite popular! I was weighing this up vs the orange numeral black bezel variant when I bought it.
I've also had the 2500d orange numeral with orange bezel version. Definitely wears noticeably slimmer but overall I prefer the look of the 8500, hence I still have this one and the other went back to the previous owner on here some time ago.
Older 45.5mm black on black for me.
Love it. Gets a lot of wrist time.
Another vote for cal 2500 42 mm black.
Ive had 3 PO's in the last 15 or so years and overall has to be my favourite watch. A brilliant everyday robust watch with the ability to be easily dressed up or down.
After selling a 2500 42 mm black I tried the newer, 8500 45 mm but it wasn't for me. Back to a gen 1. Same specs. Changed today from a bond NATO back to an OEM rubber (bought from here). No funds at the moment for the above white on rubber strap as above, which is my favourite strap for this watch. And hard to come by too!? Might add a WTB...

agree the PO is a lump in the 8500 form. even the 41.5mm i have. its tall and heavy. my wrist is just under 6.75" and i quickly got used to it, but it is an utter lump. my pelagos wears as taller though i reckon but as its ti its light, my sumo is bigger all round but lighter and contoured to my wrist well...yeah overall my po is a lump...but its still bloomin gorgeous and very wearable.
I purchased this (new) some years ago now and still like it a lot.
One of my first decent watches and certainly a big lump.

2500 in the morning sun today. The rubber strap makes it super comfortable to wear.
