Springs require for inside old mortise locks. Anyone help with info?

The door furniture in our '30's house is the normal handle type with a keyhole.

Over time a couple of the locks have had the springy part that goes into the striker fail i.e it is stuck inside the door.

I have fixed them previously by replacing the coil springs inside with old parts but I haven't any bits left now.

I know I could get the whole lock changed but it would mean chopping the door around a bit which I am loath to do.

What I want to know is there anywhere I can buy these small replacement coil springs from?
    Cheers,
    Neil.

    Hi Neil,

Handle with a keyhole suggests it's a mortise sash lock, if that helps at all with finding more out online.

If you let me know diameter, length and coils per cm I have quite a few in the workshop from firearm/shotgun repairs, I might have what you need.

My Mum lives in a period 1960s house, with the original doors. In the last few years, most of the handles have started to sag or drop altogether, as the internal springs have gone. When I saw this thread I thought I'd contact doorhandleparts.

Lee was able to source me new replacements for this type of internal door mechanism, they are made of pressed metal parts and so not readily serviceable.

    Thanks forum posters.
