The newest 126xxx DateJusts are less ‘hefty’ than the outgoing 116xxx DateJusts, and closer to the old 5 digit ones.

    More inspiration:

    These are mine:

Vintage IWC Cal 89, 35mm but does not wear small, as all dial

    B&R 123 Geneva, 37.5mm

This I don’t own, but like a lot:

    Grand Seiko SBGW231 @37mm

And a Datejust or older Explorer 1 obviously!

I wish they had made the vintage OP and air king 36 instead of 34, would make a more reasonable alternative to the 1016.

Nomos Orion? 35mm but ‘all dial’.

I bought one from SC a month or so ago and sent it off to Nomos for a service just before we all went into lockdown. Might be a while before I get it back but it’ll be worth the wait! Lovely watches.

Nice pair. Which do you prefer?

The Tudor looks ever so slightly bigger.

The Smiths has a better case shape but the black bay has better legibility.

36mm vs 38mm is quite a difference in watch case size. A Nomos Orion 38mm would look like a dinner plate on OP's wrist.

I'll 2nd, 3rd, 4th, well you get the drift. The 1016 is such an icon, need I say more.

This Grand Seiko is a lovely watch - wonder how good it would be as a daily wearer...
