Rolex Submariner 14060M 2-Liner Etched Coronet on Dial

    Hello folks,

I hope you're all keeping as well as can be in these challenging times. Quick question - I have my eye on a 2004 Rolex Submariner 14060M 2-Liner but the seller tells me that there is no laser etched coronet on the dial. He has everything else, box, papers etc. Forgive my ignorance, but is this then a fake?

I don’t think the etched coronet came in until after that so in my opinion it should be fine

I picked up a Submariner Date in 2008 and think the laser etched crown and engraved rehaut was introduced at this time.

Er......the coronet there should be on the glass, not the dial, if at all !

It's shortly after they were first introduced but this was not uniform across all models.

Rolex introduced the etched coronet in 2001-2 beginning with the 14060.
What series is the 14060 that you are considering?

Yes, the glass not the dial.
The seller may not be aware of how to look for it.

    It is a 2004 F serial.
And yes, I meant the coronet on the glass not the dial!

So I've been conversing with the seller and he admits that perhaps it was replaced....shame as everything else looks spot on.

    Perhaps. Possibly. Maybe.
    Quite the ambiguous reply that.
Has it or has it not been replaced

    I would not touch it
‘perhaps’??? Why would he not know?
If he does know he is not being honest.

Has he looked all the way around the circumference? Because there's no date bubble, if someone replaced the crystal gasket in a hurry they might not have stopped to check that the coronet ended up at 6 o clock as it should.... quite common on subs and daytonas, especially when non-AD servicing is involved.

I’m not 100% but if the glass has been replaced there should still be one and I think it should have a dot
in the middle of the logo or under it ,again I stand to be corrected.

He's a dealer so would know if there's one there. I'm out!

I think the 'S' service crystals started disappearing 2009-on.
