Both? Good to see that CWC and Hamilton are popping out some quality offerings for sensible money.

    Hamilton

    Greater WR
    Greater Power Reserve
    Harder Crystal
    Nicer crown
    More elegant dial font
No crow's foot (as neither is an issued piece, I personally think neither should have issue marks).

The only thing that is not in its favour is the patina lume. Some will love it, some will hate it. I have no problem with it, but there is no doubt it is a slight affectation.

The Hami is a better watch but the CWC has more soul.

Thanks. Yes, that's what's bugging me... maybe Eddie should do a precista or Smith's tonneau w10?

This very question was addressed in a thread a few weeks ago

Watch Fight: Hamilton W10 versus CWC MELLOR 72

Aesthetically I prefer the Hamilton, but don't really understand why either should cost more than £300-ish,

It'll go to approx £550 for the nato one in a couple of months. Generally, in my experience, Hamilton's are available between 25% and 30% cheaper that rrp after the hype of release has died down.

I'd go for the CWC, the Hamilton may have better specs, but the CWC has a better feeling for me. I have a similar one, sadly too small for my wrist so my eldest wears it.

CWC for me. I think the plexiglass will feel more ‘original’ and patina with the case over time....

Rather hard call. I'd say Hamilton based on pics and spec but I doubt either would disappoint: very simple, legible, compact and reliable watches.

I'm not sure this assists existentially or practically.

CWC for me, better price, better lume, more authentic dial design, acrylic nicer than sapphire for this watch and case brushed in the correct direction.

I like both of these watches but I am not a fan of fixed bars. Would much rather have drilled lugs because I could throw a topical strap on it and if someone strictly was a Nato or single pass type then you could just throw shoulderless springbars on.

Could I ask what the T20 is. Hope it isn't a dumb question.

Not a dumb question at all.

    The non-date option is better.

So it is basically the quartz version of the Mellor-72. Thanks.

I flit between the 2 - if money was no object I’d order both, but the more I look at them the better I like the look of the Hamilton....

Of course. It’s from Crown & Buckle. They’re a bit pricey when you factor in the postage so I did a bit of a bulk buy when they had a promotion on last year.
