    RIP Keg Buster

Possibly of concern only to a small percentage of TZers, I note with sadness the sudden passing of Keg Buster, the iconic campaigner for cask-conditioned beer. His passing is recorded in the April 2020 issue of What's Brewing.
I never thought the death of a pen-and-ink cartoon character would bring a tear to my eye.
The artist Bill Tidy, who is very much alive but going through some daunting health challenges, has been telling tall tales of Keg Buster for I think more than 40 years.

This immediately brought back memories of The Red Spanner, one of his less well known creations who appeared weekly in an early IT trade paper called Datalink. The central character was an embittered life serving corporate manager whose whole department had been made redundant following the installation of a new computer system.

Here's one of the very early strips which I've just managed to dig out.

Bill Tidy is one of my favourite artists, I love his humour.

Always liked Bill Tidy's cartoons. Always liked 'The Cloggies' in Private Eye.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Yeah, Keg Buster had a weird take on the real ale scene.

Bill has had a stroke and I believe is suffering from Parkinson's, which presumably has influenced his decision to, er, draw back from his commitments.

Cartoon is a unique medium, much underrated imho.

The Cloggies, there can't be many cartoons that had a live tribute act
